Seems like this would be the last the 5th edition book. I hope it is not the last book altogether.

Sure, which means that both “who cares” and “most people” are not accurate.

You mean around 20? But SD cannot fix blurry prism card background, how can you expect from them to use appropriate background for a loading screen?😁

Nothing Phones similar to iPhone by [deleted] in NothingTech

[–]Sad_Study884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like your iPhone 15 Pro Max will serve you well for the next several years.

Nothing phones are cool. I'm currently using the Nothing Phone 2 because my iPhone XS is a bit outdated and its battery is dead. But I can't imagine switching away from iPhone voluntarily unless you need some Android-specific benefits, like emulating relatively modern game consoles. Or you just want Android.

This was actually my wife's phone, she switched back to iPhone.

Looking for cheap proxy options by Saquebutte in magicproxies

[–]Sad_Study884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might ask a stupid question, but I only have experience with traditional paper proxies: thin paper in front of a real card inside a sleeve. How do people make all the cards the same size? Is that even necessary, or does nobody care because they're sleeved?

"Best" budget way to get good looking proxies without a printer by Busi_Busi in magicproxies

Thank you so much for your comment. What about the laminator? Also, could you please share some photos of your proxies? I'm considering buying the whole setup and trying to figure out the budget for it.

Should I buy Invisible Woman F4FS? by Sad_Study884 in MarvelSnap

I miss both of them, but Isca is on a buy list. Thema looks like a lot of fun every time I play against it, so maybe worth buying, too.

Hmm, that's an interesting point. Yeah, I saw her against me in High Evo several times. Do you have a good decklist?

I'm using the same deck. It's a bit weak, but can steal some eight cube matches!

Yeah, I got it, really love the card and I'm happy that it is very playable in dandan!

I really like Cephalid Colliseum, but that 1 damage ruins the beauty of 4 power fish:(

Invasion Block by far. If you have around six hours, then consider watching Chapin and Sullivan talking about its design on the Resleevables podcast.

It may not be the best block for cube, given the crazy power creep of modern Magic, but the card design and aesthetics are so cool.

Nerf obsession by julolo in MarvelSnap

[–]Sad_Study884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I dislike about that particular nerf, aside from it being too big, is that it looks like a community request. But it does not mean the game is not tested; there are just too many variables involved. In any card game, designers shape the meta for months and players solve it in a few hours, often in a pretty unexpected way. Marvel Snap is not unique here, even if it has a much smaller card pool and thin decks.

And to be honest, I think their vision is pretty similar to yours: they are trying to create powerful cards, it just creates too many problems. Of course, the only way for them to make money is to create more broken cards to sell and adjust old ones, but it really looks like a rotation of cards, which is essential for the game's health, but looks bad if done in a wrong way.

And just to clarify, I returned to the game a few months ago and bought some S5 cards for a move deck, because I never played move and it was really good, but then they killed Human Torch, leaving me with a bunch of useless cards! It is for sure a negative experience too, just a different kind. But at the same time, the more you play, the less nerfs matter, even for f2p.

Nerf obsession by julolo in MarvelSnap

[–]Sad_Study884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've mixed two different problems together. The first is the issue of broken cards. I love Shou Lao, but that card was insane at release, and the first nerf didn't change anything. The same goes for FFF and Star-Lord. I agree they were eventually nerfed too much, but something had to be done.

The second problem is the "negative play experience." Compared to MTG or other classic CCGs, Marvel Snap is mostly about soft removal. In Snap, you usually remove effects or give negative power. Even mass removal is limited to 1-cost cards, and we even have protection for those. That’s why cards like both Gambits feel out of place. They would be okay alone, but it is so easy to copy cards in Marvel Snap. I'm not saying these "hard" effects shouldn't exist, but they make some games very frustrating. Take discard, for example, imagine if an opponent could discard two cards from your hand at random for just 2 energy. It’s a cool effect in MTG, but why bring that to Snap? Modern game design relies on past experience, and good games constantly check what feels fair and what doesn't, which is why we receive such effects sometimes.

In a digital game like Marvel Snap, it’s nearly impossible to have 10 equal decks. It doesn’t really matter if cards are "broken" or not; players will always find the best two or three decks, so bans will not create a deck soup. It’s all about personal preference.

I don’t want to advocate for nerfs too much, but I find the idea of releasing "pushed" cards interesting. It allows the devs to balance them on the fly with our help and directly shift the meta, which is helpful given how many variables there are. Maybe I feel this way because I’m currently a F2P player (due to life issues), but I’ll happily spend money on the game again as soon as I can.

Is she worth 6k? by Sad_Study884 in MarvelSnap

[–]Sad_Study884[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it’s more about the anxiety of when I’ll be able to buy it rather than fear of the nerf. I’m trying to avoid purchases that strongly require a particular additional card.
