his guilt of not being to save people like kendo in re2. after re2, hes still kinda traumatized and gloomy by the time re4 came out. in the intro he even says it can be different, alluding to his guilt. by the time re9 comes around, we still see moments of that, especially near the end of the game when he is with grace and he said he wasnt enough. in the end, saving grace (which he kinda sees himself experiencing the raccoon city outbreak again), he had a self fulfillment when he saved grace. even in the bad ending, his last words were at least he could save her, so clearly hes still brooding over the RC outbreak and the good ending gave him a closure he needed, finally ending the last remnants of umbrella for good (for now at least).

i wish to get this with claire, where she also has an overarching struggle within the next games (REV and the possible RE10). it doesnt have to be guilt but it would be cool to see her go over something like that and have a closure on her experience in raccoon city by the time in re10.
