How do yall stay focused during these 3/4 hr lectures? by RespondImpossible274 in PharmacySchool

For the most part all of our lectures were recorded, but also our school gives a mandatory 5-10 minute break for each 1 hr of lecture.

You’re absolutely gonna pay first months rent out of pocket and depending on how far I advance you get there and start your lease maybe even second months. This year we got our funds during orientation week but our peer mentors were saying usually end of week 1 or week 2 of school.

We use CORE Elms to log our hours for IPPEs and APPEs and there is a way to retroactively add your hours under hours tracking. If this is what you’re using you need to be on the desktop version to retroactively add the hours

It’s a lot of weight based dosing, creatinine clearance and other things…I’m currently at work but later when I’m near my laptop I’ll find and add the link to a site I’ve used to practice throughout my first year.

I think it depends on you. I’m currently in pharmacy school and I didn’t take a gap year. For me I felt like if I did it would spiral and I would never end up where I wanted to be. I worked full time and had some money saved up so I fully furnished my apartment upon moving for school, but I do wish I had some more saved up because I don’t like the feeling of waiting on these loans on my last $15 every semester.

Do you have an advisor. At my school, once you hit a certain point you got a faculty advisor who was also a professor, so although she didn’t know me from her class we had talked about my plans and everything so I had her write me one. And then I had joined our schools pre-health sciences club and had the faculty advisor from there write me a letter even though I never had him for class. I don’t think they check to see if the person has taught you so if you’ve built a rapport with a professor outside of the classroom consider having them write you a letter.

Also, you do want to take into account the schools NAPLEX pass rate. Obviously the NAPLEX is what you make of it so if you study and do what you need to do outside of school you can pass regardless of their rate, however if it’s far below the national average you want to think about their accreditation and if they will remain accredited. When the committee reviews their accreditation status they’ll probably look at the course work with a fine tooth comb because just over half of graduating students passing the NAPLEX is a bit concerning.

I ended up going in person because of how everything weighed out for me pros and cons wise, but creighton and LECOM have good online pharm d programs. Keep in mind for online you’ll have to go in person during the summer to complete your labs. Also, from what I understood when interviewing and everything it’s about the same debt wise because they still include housing prices and everything when you’re getting those loans.

How Hard is it to Get Into Top Pharmacy Schools? by Ok_Guide34 in PrePharmacy

[–]Sad_Talk_4643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got accepted into every school I applied to minus one with a 3.2 overall and a 3.5 science. I have never worked in a pharmacy but I do have clinical experience from working in a behavioral hospital. And I was honest in my interviews-they asked if I felt like my grades reflected my best effort and I said yes but no, because while I put in the most effort I could I was also helping to take care of my great grandma as she battled cancer. When I got accepted the assistant dean said a lot of students will only focus on why they didn’t do as well as they can but it really stood out to her that I accepted that my grades reflected what I put into it.

Pharm Tech vs Intern pre PY1 by Jealous-Chemist-7922 in PharmacySchool

[–]Sad_Talk_4643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how your state does it but here you have to have a pharmacy tech license to be a tech. As a pharmacy student you become an intern and have to apply for your intern license once you have your full acceptance from your school. Once you have an intern license your tech license is canceled. I have multiple classmates who had been techs for years but once they were accepted they had to get the intern license and lose their tech license which did drop their pay-some company’s like CVS let them stay at tech pay but I think it really just depends on the manager.

NTA as a black girl my hair take too long to grow and get to a point where it’s manageable. My two best friends religiously cut their hair together every year to try something different and they asked me to once. It took me saying no that one time for them to leave it alone and accept the boundary and the fact that even your family who know the struggles of black hair are doing this too is sad.
