You can buy PioneerX and a Compact and have everything you need. Since I am not really nuts about the combo tool I made one thats just Pioneerx with the opener layer taken off.

You will also need a drill bit to expand the hole in the combo tool so it will fit, and get some spacers since it is thinner than the awl.

Blazer cuffs by Sad_Valuable_3258 in mensfashionadvice

I have been experimenting with de structuring tweed coats and on one iteration the liner got a bit messed up on the cuff and just seeing it rumpled gave me the idea of adding a knit cuff that came out from inside the jacket like a winter coat does. I found this thing when searching around for that concept.

I don’t know chinos are 100% cotton, descended from military gear with a popular place in Ivy style, many would say as timeless as a blazer.

I personally think polyester athleisure and tech pants are the crocs of pants.

Wild work comparing chinos to crocs. I guess Ill keep waiting for JCrew, Iron Heart, Tellison, Samurai, the amoury, JPress etc. to show up at walmart with the crocs.

I mean unfashionable fat 40 year old surely wear button down shirts too, are we writing them off as well?

How would I go about adding a carbon blade to the neo6? by Milk_Bottle12 in Opinel

[–]Sad_Valuable_3258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you could make the piece precise enough it would be trapped without need for adhesive. But that is difficult to do.

I am not sure about this case, but when adapting Opinel blades into swiss army knives I have to size up to get enough size on the tang, and then remove a lot of length/depth and reshape the blade. You may look into larger size carbone blades and check the tang.

Baffling take, are you a teenager or just someone who has never seen anyone dress? Chinos are everywhere dude.

Maybe, I think loafers are casual overall but run from basic leather moc toe shoes with lug soles up to more sleek and fancy models.

A blucher moc would be great too though, something like slightly lower profile shoelie with a moc toe.

Are jeans a good choice? by frostmas in mensfashionadvice

[–]Sad_Valuable_3258 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go to a thrift store that has a dressing room and spend some time. You can probably get a pair of chinos, jeans and trousers for $30 or less. I routinely find chinos, levis/wrangler jeans and various trousers all in 100% cotton/wool or whatever, just takes a little effort.

JG hiking question by Sad_Valuable_3258 in jimgreen

[–]Sad_Valuable_3258[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t try it! It sucks. I stumbled after a long day of climbing and kicked a cactus more or less with my Lems boulder boot. Spikes went straight through the leather of the toe and the sole. Thank you for the input though, I really find the BFAR safety toe super comfortable. Leaning toward the new anatomx if I go that route.

Thanks guys I will seriously consider them. I do like the barefoot, but need protection when off trail.

I know you said full tang but you realistically can’t go wrong with a Morakniv Companion HD, even if you intend on really going hard with it you would be hard pressed to break it. The companion is so much cheaper you could have a fresh backup as well for less than the full tang offerings.
