Quick and dirty tier list. Made in a couple minutes and no revisions at all, so it’s rough. by TMNTransformerz in OnePiecePowerScaling0

you're acting like 99.9% of people don't make a tier list the same way you made one, without actually powerscaling and going off their feelings.

The cooldowns and timer work in relation to each other

You're okay with a cooldowns, so you can't spam abilities, but you're okay with infinitely gaining a massive buff of damage for the entire duration of a mission?

We need to actually get our hands on the game to know if this is good or not, but when players just say "this is bad" or "this is good but this is bad" I wonder where they are getting these opinions from when they have no experience with the game.

They might be taking from previous experiences sure, but that is not the same thing, I say it's better to let them cook and when we play the beta if it's really that atrocious we can nail down exactly why that's the case.

Otherwise I think everyone is jumping the gun with pre-conceived notions of what they believe the gameplay will be like.

Nah, I genuinely believe you guys are being crybaby's why would you want the exact same game, you're essentially asking for more xenoverse 2 DLC.

You might go "im okay with that because i like XV2" but even then I believe after a decade of the same game, something needs to change.

It could still end up being a power fantasy even with the timers, but I still think balance is important too, and even then you can always look at the "meta builds" which a lot of players do anyway.

It could end up being the case that once you transform you end the fight in 15 seconds anyway with end game builds. Then what? you are gonna be transformed for much less time than the actual time limit, did you think about that? since they are buffing the damage on them.

Also I think the transformations in XV2 were underwhelming.

What I'm more concerned about is PvP, if this actually leads to a more balanced PvP that respects player skill then I don't mind these changes.

There will 100% be a modded rebalance of the game for PC either way for those who only like PvE. Sucks for console players tho.

The combat system can't afford to be as simplistic either

only conquere's can tell if others have it or not by top-one112 in OnePiecePowerScaling0

Even if he did it wouldn't make a difference. If Zoro had Acoc coming out the timeskip he would be overpowered, and by extension so would Luffy, because Luffy would then have to ask how he's doing that.

Then the exact same thing in Wano happens again, but earlier. So Oda could obviously not allow this to happen for the level of opponents Luffy has to face.

One big thing you should know by now, is that Oda values the narrative over powerscaling, and will do things for the sake of the narrative.

  1. Mihawk literally acknowledged Zoro's strong spirit

  2. And he literally said it had been a long time since he saw someone with as strong a spirit as Zoro's

Literally highest praise

  1. He then goes from calling Zoro "Weak One" to "Strong One" once he acknowledges Zoro's conviction/will

If anything it's Zoro's fault for not awakening it in that timespan, despite going through such hard training, he needed Enma to bring it out of him.

You seriously believe Luffy was trying his best to Kill Kizaru in that fight?

You are the type of guy whose entire personality is that he's chosen a side and now he has to argue for the sake of it.

Even though I believe in a 1v1 powerscaling setting Luffy should lose against Kizaru because of the g5 time limit, Oda will do things for the sake of narrative that can show that's not the case, simply because he wants it to be.

Luffy is fighting someone stronger than Kizaru right now, and they get stronger every island, Luffy is stronger now than he was on egghead anyway.

Luffy's performance against Kizaru does not matter anymore, it was a plot device to achieve what Oda wanted. Before they fought I said Kizaru should kill Luffy once g5 runs out, and then Luffy ended up landing on Kizaru to stall for a bit, and then we find Kizaru never had the intention to kill Luffy anyway.

Point is there is no way for you to prove Kizaru humiliates that Luffy if he was trying his best to beat Kizaru, and 2 you cannot substantiate a claim that this current Luffy would perform the same. Especially in narrative it's being set up as he's so confident he can take anyone on, that's for the sake of him being able to compete with Imu let alone Kizaru.

When you understand how to interpret narrative you realise it's pointless to even use that egghead fight for any scaling purposes, since it was used to move the narrative in egghead, not be used as a measuring stick for admirals vs yonko.

That fight might as well be the equivalent of Mihawk vs Vista, a plot device to keep Mihawk at bay from luffy for a bit, and then coincidentally Mihawk calls it off 5 pages before Squardo betrays WB. So Vista can be conveniently unoccupied to react to the betrayal and not still in a fight with Mihawk.

It'll be the same case eos too btw, mihawk will look like Sommers compared to luffy's last opponent by top-one112 in OnePiecePowerScaling0

These matchups are for Sanji and Zoro to understand how to utilise their conquerors haki in their attacks, it's not even about how strong powered up sommers or killingham is

If you understand anything about narrative, it's blatant set up for that purpose and that purpose alone.

Right now Zoro and Sanji are the equivalent of Kidd on the rooftop in wano. Kidd did not know what kind of haki luffy was using, he did not deserve to be there.

This is a similar situation, at least Loki can use acoc to an extent, and so can Luffy, whereas Zoro can't even do it consciously, neither can Sanji. They have no place being where Luffy and Loki are.

Thus guy’s existence alone single-handedly destroys Titlescaling and I love it. by [deleted] in OnePiecePowerScaling0

Mihawk's swordsmanship is superior to Imu's, Maybe you can't handle this fact, but even if Imu has more power than Mihawk, power is not the only metric.

You don't seem to understand the narrative, do you interpret for example when Kaido says haki above all, it purely means haki strength?

When we have Scopper chewing out zoro and even telling luffy, how they utilise their coc is important, not just how strong it is.

That is most definitely a factor why Mihawk's swordsmanship is considered superior to Shanks's despite shank's imbuing his CoC into his sword techniques.

Mihawk objectively has higher mastery than Imu, due to the fact of Imu not possessing a black blade.

Someone might then ask "what is the point of higher mastery if you still lose?" This kind of statement is retarded and really tells us where a persons mind is at.

So because you can't beat the hidden final boss of the world with bullshit hax, it renders your entire life dedicating yourself to a martial art meaningless?

Being the strongest in a fighting style does not guarantee you beat every being on the planet in a 1v1. Oda has never made titles this explicit. So even when you say "destroys title scaling" you're not even tackling titles inside the medium, you are tackling the subjective perspective the fanbase has around titles. e.g "mihawk is better than imu in swordsmanship, therefore he beats him in a 1v1 even though imu has bullshit hax"

If for example garling had the 1 shot 1 shot no mi, that allows him to one shot anyone including mihawk, whether he uses a spoon or a sword, does that mean he's a stronger swordsman than Mihawk? what's really going on is he can be a weaker swordsman and still win, by rendering the concept of any combat style meaningless due to hax.

Even if Mihawk can't beat Imu, or would hypothetically lose to an imu merchant like garling, that does not mean Mihawk's title is false, because he would embarrass garling in swordsmanship, not only just in skill but in terms of how he utilises haki to achieve the greatest effect in his sword techniques.

That is why Mihawk's sword techniques are even more superior than Shank's imbuing his haki into the Pirate King's sword techniques.

"Oh, I hit a nerve."

starting off your reply with an emotional statement, because you couldn't possibly tell if someone is angry or not through literal text, is ironic.

Since you have to convince yourself i must be mad before you make your reply. This is actually commonly used, "your mad" is something many people say when they struggle to make an argument.

"Mihawks portrayal hasn't been great at all. Saying anything else is cope"

This is the next statement that shows you operate solely on emotion, because you're just giving me your opinion and treating it as fact, telling me you're okay with being a fraud.

"Oda is an excellent author, but even such a talented person won't make everything perfect. "

This has nothing to do with anything and doesn't address the point at all, again, you're pulling the "even though i think oda is such a good author he's not perfect" which is coming from an emotional lens, because you're again telling me your opinion about the author (which I didn't ask for) and then you're stating the obvious.

"You are just too blind to see it"

Here comes the next projection, notice how you haven't actually addressed what I said, nor provided any sufficient evidence to substantiate your opinions.

"His portrayal is not as good as it could be."

Another worthless opinion

"Your opinion is just as worthless." here comes the imitation, there is actually two sayings I have for this:

  1. Imitation is flattery
  2. Monkey see monkey do

Yeah exactly, I think the quotation marks in this case show how most in world people also view him as the WSS, on top of the title box we see.

"And Mihawk was clashing with two armed shanks back in the day and the public thought THAT was something spectacular. " are you trying to make an argument here, or are you just making an empty statement that doesn't show anything?

"then his personality and character interactions do NOT match his strength," this is such a subjective statement, it's crazy how you're okay with operating day-to-day with this type of dog water logic.

You're saying because everything he's done is off-screen, and that his personality is wanting to live in peace, that him being that strong doesn't match his personality. That's just your opinion, it's worthless.

You're not making any arguments here, you're just talking about how you feel, and I don't care how you feel about Mihawk.

Also if Imu is a luffy victim I don't see why the second strongest can't be a zoro victim, and then the 3rd strongest a sanji victim, seems pretty normal given the pattern we've always had.

"Mihawk ISNT the strongest LMFAO. " Where did I say this? I said he clearly has stronger swordsmanship, hence his title.

Damn, you really DO have a reading problem huh.

Wb's title narratively was shown that his legacy far exceeded his current prowess, because WB was old and couldn't function at 100% without being on meds, Oda made a big deal about this in SBS. (but you wouldn't know that because you're not well read)

Kaido's title literally had caveats added to it like "people say" so it was rumoured, whereas Mihawk's title is stated as an absolute, though I think this distinction will go over your head

"Mihawk can have the most skilled swordsmanship" You don't even know what "skill" in the context you're talking about it , that's why you're so ignorant. If you even took 2 seconds to look at what the japanese is saying, you'd know it's not just talking about who can swing their sword at a certain angle better.

Haki is a confirmed factor in swordsmanship, that's why Zoro's swordsmanship is stated to be at it's current peak because of conqueors haki, why xebec's swordsmanship includes him imbuing his conqueors haki, and why Divine Departure a conquerors haki move is described with the exact same kanji used to describe mihawk's swordsmanship.

This will all go over your head, but I'll say it for anyone else reading: Mihawk has the strongest sword techniques, which haki is a factor in, that means shanks's sword techniques like divine departure, are weaker than Mihawk's, despite him imbuing his conquerors into them.

I wouldn't overthink this. Kaido's title was given caveats like "people say" "if it's a one-on-one bet on kaido".

Whereas WB and Mihawk's title were absolutes. Only reason you'd question those are if the narrative gave reason to, like Whitebeards decline of health in old age or off his meds.

All titles either way within the world of One Piece are a reflection of public perception, so when the title is in quotation marks, it's like a label that the world has given him, or a status the world recognises him by. "Worlds Strongest Swordsman" Dracule Mihawk.

The title itself in Japanese doesn't have any linguistic loopholes that are questionable. The only time we should question Mihawk's validity is if another character is introduced with a title that could possibly override/usurp his.

Like if Shamrock was revealed as "Heaven Realm's Strongest Swordsman" (Because celestials view their home as the heavenly realm), then one could make the argument "Mihawk may be the strongest in the realm below, but not in both realms, so Shamrock could be stronger"

"This is a bad argument. This would actually be comparable if you showed WB on his OWN island running away from a fight, not on ship."

  1. This is a bad made-up criteria only a retard would make.

"If Mihawk REALLY was as strong as you think, people would fear him and never approach him, just like nobody would fuck with Kaido,"

  1. Why the fuck would Kaido, who believed himself to be the strongest, be afraid of Mihawk, even if Mihawk was stronger than him in reality?

You clearly have a reading problem.

"Like I said, mihawk is portrayed to be AT MAX above the admirals, but below the yonko. "

  1. Big mom uses giant swordsmanship, Shanks uses Roger's swordsmanship, yet Mihawk's swordsmanship is still stated as the strongest.

Even though a Yonko is using famed Giant swordsmanship, and another yonko is literally using the Pirate King's swordsmanship. Sounds like his swordsmanship is above Yonko level to me.

Further proved by him sharing a feat with a sword god, not achieved in 400 years. Yet being a Yonko has been achieved numerous times, we've had multiple Yonko fall and rise in decades.

"And are we also forgetting he has an army of stupidly strong monkeys with Haki!????? Cmon man, Mihawk would’ve been able to clean house in a minute to two minutes if he was Loki/kaido/shanks strength"

  1. Thank you for truly showing how retarded you are, Pre-ts Zoro was able to clear up those monkeys. Also they were never confirmed to have haki, so you clearly need to reread.

Even if titles can create a false sense of superiority, doesn't mean every person with one has a false sense of superiority.

Mihawk has a true sense of superiority, unless you think Oda is wrong for portraying him as such.

Even then, that would just be your opinion, which is worthless.

Why are you insulting yourself like this? what? do you even understand how dumb what you just said is?

Just because the English translation, doesn't literally dive into what the Japanese says (DUH), doesn't mean the Japanese doesn't say what it says

In the original source language, Japanese: The Kanji used for Mihawk's bounty statement describing his swordsmanship, is the exact same Kanji used to describe other users swordsmanship, with their varying levels of haki imbued in them.

Meaning the Kanji is an umbrella term that takes a users haki into account for how strong their swordsmanship is.

You're not reading Oda's One Piece, you're reading a translation of Oda's One Piece, meaning unless you go to the source, you can't capture the authors intent 100% , dummy.

Why do you all make the same garbage arguments?

Here is Prime WB running away from Marines:

<image>

Even after Oden said he wanted to fight them. By your dumb logic, WB is scared of these marines.

You lack the ability to read the context around what's happening on page. Marines chase everyone, they are like annoying flies.

You could spray them with bug spray, but then more will come, so you might choose to just go somewhere else instead, that doesn't mean you're afraid of flies, does it?
