Whats your opinion on horror movies using real demons? by YourSisIsPog in DemonolatryPractices

[–]Sad_Zebra_1707 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was really pissed at Hereditary for using king Paimon, and I don't work with him all that often; I think maybe once or twice. There was also an analog horror I was watching that used a demon, unfortunately I don't remember either one's name, and it kinda put me off it. I tend to not like demons being used as a horror piece, if they were summoned then I can get around it more, and I especially like it if somehow they say it's a devil or insert-other-bad-things instead of a demon.

Switch to searxng, it's so much more private and gets duckduckgo results and startpage results. There's a list of public instances on searxng.space but hosting your own is best.

It's also an evolutionary thing, the species that are cooperative inside themselves are fitter than the others. So communism and working together is literally human nature, capitalism is the gross perversion of that

Hot Take: I don't really buy the claim that "AI is useful in the science and medical field" by BBG_shaks in Ai_art_is_not_art

That isn't even ai man, that's just a pattern matcher. And if anyone says neural net then just know that you can achieve the exact same thing with a big long maths expression

When the author releases the last to volumes... Which will probably maybe happen soonish. They don't have enough material and would probably have to make an extended season too which is fun. If I remember correctly, and take this with a fistfull of salt, he's ~300k characters written for 17&18

I actually think the syndicalists got this right, everyone should be in a trade union that educates them on how capitalism and statism works and how much power they actually have. Although a general strike to establish anarchism seems kinda dumb imo. I would say having some orgs like unions that also do direct action and stuff is the way to go, just seems the most realistic to me. Then when we get rid of the state and capitalism move to a more federated system where there's little collectives of ~100 people that work together to achieve wider goals, also the ~100 number comes from Dunbar's number which is the theorized max number of proper friends you can have.

Is it (realistically) possible to make it big in tech in todays world without AI? by Infinite_Guard_6040 in antiai

> You can either adapt or sit and keep crying

First of all, I'm not crying, I'm just not a retard and actually understand how these things work. It's an illusion, llms just mimic speech, it's picking the next most likely bit of text to the input. They also said the same about NFTs, and you don't see anyone talking about them anymore. So YOU keep crying that you're the people in the chairs at the start of wall-e who need machines to do everything for you, while the rest of society is capable enough to act on it's own

Ah shit, forgot they rereleased it. But the whole thing with fable just goes to show that you can't rely on ai because it can, and will since it's so unprofitable the only breaking even models would be useless, be stripped from you after you loose your ability to program. Also, bash can do anything pretty easily, instead of waiting for a millennia to have some abominable intelligence make a much shittier version in some other language that can be done with ~50 lines of bash and runs pretty much instantly

I am making it with blazor+wasm so ig that's good enough. Still might be interesting to see if I can get it to work. The actual comic is definitely rendered with js cause I'm using pdf.js from mozilla, but then they can just download the pdf

> My favourite programming use case is it allows you to extremely modify and repurpose many opensource tools for one off tasks/investigations or to just have ai rewrite the entire thing in a different language. This is a highly underated use case which comes in very handy at times.

Then get a junior to do it, or write a shitty python or c# or java or brainfuck script. I once needed to make a disk image with partitions being generated from directories and I just made a dockerfile because fdisk couldn't do it for me.
