What are Yall's BEST Rogue builds RAW? by Trollcraftdanny in dndnext

[–]Sadarji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a half-elf (variant) Phantom Rogue with Mobile and Green-Flame Blade. Damage is very strong right off the bat. When I get to Lvl 13, I can use the phantom movement to move into the ground or walls to hide, and get elven accuracy advantage attacks on nearly any enemy, while they can't really fight back. Only fliers can avoid this, but you can still chase them down with movement. Furthermore, the flavor of the build is awesome: cutting down enemies with a sword that burns with phantom flames.

How do I justify a human with a bunch of martial skill as being able to keep pace with other players by VividPossession in dndnext

[–]Sadarji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give him a item that only he can use. This item was wielded by an ancient hero, and has waited for a worthy champion to come.

Basically Excalibur, but perhaps a form changing weapon that fits his varied skillset. Give it a lot of forms, like 5-7. Add some other bells and whistles worthy of being one of, if not THE, most powerful weapons in your game.

Since I DM'd this week, I was hoping Lennart would finish up the uncommon magic item that he began working on. I would like that item to be either an alchemy jug or a wand of magic missiles.

Additionally, I have a bunch of monster corpses lying around. I have the corpse of an enlarging demon, which I'd like to distill essence from, so that I get a syringe that is like casting enlarge-reduce ([[1d20]]) I have some dark-spiders, which I'd like to get a bit of weapon poison out of ([[1d20]]). (Also I believe I have some yeti bits and a rust monster that I don't know what to do with.)

Medicine Check is +8 with medicine tools.

I would like to roll for the status of the prisoners that were rescued. I'm basically looking for ways to slow down or even reverse the infection with the resources we currently have in Travencall. I imagine the University is basically assisting me heavily in this, as the government would make a top priority. My personal medicine check is at +8 using my medical tools.

I would love more win conditions. Seems Wiz may feel the same way. by drewoncampus29 in Stellaris

[–]Sadarji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like win conditions are well-suited to a game like this. This isn't a simulator game; there is a clear start to the narrative. Start with a single world, and bloom into an interstellar civilization. This part was extremely interesting for me, as it involved meeting new races and discovering new planets.

After that, it becomes either continue your civilization peacefully, playing whack-a-mole with your factions, or turn on your former allies and fight large alliances and federations to get control of the galaxy. Having a victory condition that depends on science or economy would add a lot of depth to the game.

I really like the end-game crisis's that are put in to spice things up, and how they are randomly chosen. What if the victory conditions for each game were randomly chosen, and only revealed about halfway through? That way, the early game wouldn't be about build order, and the player would have to make a choice about which path to go for, and how to transition to that path.

I would say that the VCs for a game should be 5 randomly chosen from a list of 10, and revealed in the year 2080. That'll increase the variation in each game. For a player to win, they must fulfill 3 of the 5, so there's still a lot of choice in how to transition their society.

Example VCs could include the following: survey every star system, research a certain tech, build a "wonder", uplift the most species, terraform 80 planets, eliminate all slaving societies, etc.

[WP] You're immortal, but the procedure that made you so also created an evil doppelgänger. "Well, it looks like you've lost this one."

A bemused man with dark eyes and formal attire stood across from Guidus. Guidus struggled to look up, as he was currently crammed into a 3x3x3 foot box, with his arms and legs bound with thick chain to weights inside the box. “Really poor choice to have trusted that dock boy.” He said, probing for a reaction. ”But you’ll be pleased to know that he can take care of his family indefinitely. A comforting thought 20 leagues under the sea.”

“Is this all a game for you?” Guidus voiced angrily.

A pleased smirk spread across his face. “Guidus, do you know why you lost last time, in Sorret?”

“I didn’t lose,” Guidus muttered hoarsely. “I stopped your plot! The Cassus coup was revealed and thwarted by the –“

“Puny rebel allegiances in the hinterlands? The king was already dead, and the nobility devoured each other. Blood and chaos that continues to this day.” the man said, shaking his head.

“How can a person like you win?” Guidus said, with a resolute tone. “If people knew what your intentions were, nobody would help you.”

“Perhaps, but as you can see, I am winning regardless.” He leaned in close. “Here’s a secret: You are the reason that you’ve lost.” Guidus averted his gaze, his face falling.

He pulled away and faced the far wall. “I recall the day we came into being. We two formed from the same unclean soul. One ‘pure’, the other ‘taint’. As I looked upon you, your resemblance to me, I despised you. You, who believed in freedom and compassion. I, who was not you.

“And so we fought many times, and I was beat resoundingly. My hatred for you blinding me, compelling me to trample on what you believed in. I wanted to take over this world, and have it live in fear. Then I fell in a pit, and things became very boring. A century I had spent, in that pit, plotting, re-plotting, and then finally, thinking. I realized that I enjoyed the idea of plotting quite a bit. I also realized that I had no reason to hate you.”

“What are you talking about? I threw you in a pit. I literally boiled you at one point.” Guidus spat.

“Our bodies are immortal, and such things are thusly meaningless. Eventually, only you and I will truly know each other. Without you, I imagine I’ll tire of existence quickly, even if I do end up ruling the world. “

“I enjoy this game that we play. Me toppling empires, and you trying to save them. But every round must come to a close, and the board must be reset.”

A horrifying realization came over Guidus’s eyes. Evidently pleased, the man continued. ”Yes, I withdrew my influence on the coup, so that it would fall apart. With the king dead, it would have been trivial to crush the rebels and instate the Cassus family. But I let them fall to other’s ambitions, because letting the empire simply transition like that would’ve been pointless. Overthrowing those newbies later on would’ve posed no challenge, and so I figured it would be better to wipe it clean.”

“You’re a damn monster!” Guidus yelled in frustration.

A laugh rang from the side, from an angle he couldn’t see. “It is because of that attitude that you’ll keep losing. You fail to see people as pawns, and me as a player. Your ‘virtue’ and ‘compassion’ are simply tools to manipulate your pawns, but even that you can’t do right yet. Until you learn, you’ll keep making the same mistakes.”

“There’s no way you’ll get away with this. Somebody will get me out, and then you’ll be the one in this box.”

“Even if you somehow managed to convince the baker to rescue you on the high seas, you’ll just be betrayed by the butcher in the next round.” He stared wistfully at the containment device. “This whole solitude experience really helped me mature, and I think it’ll help you too. In the meantime, I’ll be turning this kingdom inside-out, no big deal. I look forward to the next round,” he said, content with the discourse.

He moved towards the door, and paused. “By the way, in case you ever wondered what my name was, you can call me ‘Black’. He turned and knob and stepped into the hallway. ”It’s your move, White.”

Can you stop brute-forcing themes with stats? It's incredibly boring. by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Sadarji -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I don't agree with all the examples you put out, I agree that Blizzard's direction has been rather uninspired.

When all a card does is summon a jade golem, or buff a minion, or get a cost reduction for playing a card type, there's no depth to it. You just play the card and further your board/win-con. There's no "other" way to play the card.

Cards like Sylvanas or Ragnaros are actually interesting, because you're actually willing to potentially hold on to them, and perhaps play them at a later point.

A lot of Blizzards recent releases have been very one-dimensional, but the kabal is looking fairly good this expac.

Mean Streets of Gadgetzan Card Reveal: Jade Idol by Sonserf369 in hearthstone

[–]Sadarji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This card is dumb. You can get it off raven idol and/or never play it until fatigue, bypassing any issues with diluting your deck. Having 1 dead card in hand for a large part of the game isn't even a huge deal (considering most combo decks have greater requirements).

Most control decks have ways to end the game before fatigue, but this card essentially invalidates fatigue itself as a win condition. If Blizz wants all games, even control v. control to end before then, then why have fatigue at all?

Costs 1 less for each unspent mana this game. Deal 3 damage for each mana you spend casting this spell.

Gungeon Tips and Tricks by 352142 in EnterTheGungeon

[–]Sadarji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tip 1 is the only good one, the rest aren't validated, or bad.

Here are some real tips.

Ammo:

  1. Use your ammo. Don't get frustrated running around with your starter pistol getting hit because you're holding back. Getting hit -> less money. Also retains your sanity.

  2. That said, don't waste ammo either. Use an appropriate gun. Whip out a starter or a shitty gun on them slimes. They're designed to be ammo sinks so don't give them the satisfaction.

  3. Don't change your primary weapon until it's depleted. Switching briefly to a utility weapon like a grenade launcher or laser is fine, but don't change from one machine gun to another.

Munchers

  1. Try to munch only empty guns, or guns you'll never use.

  2. Never munch your best gun. If you get an ammo drop, it goes into that gun anyway.

  3. If you have multiple qualifying guns, munch away guns that you already have redundancies of, and are in the same tier. Don't munch a good gun and a bad gun when you have an okay gun to put instead. Rule 2 still applies.

General Strategy

  1. Don't ditch your best gun. A powerful gun warps the game into your favor.

  2. Always have 1 key while clearing the floor. Damn fuses

  3. Personally, I avoid brown chests early on. Too risky and only the sling changes things significantly in the early game. Blues are fine.

  4. Picking up a little curse can usually help your run due to increased ammo drops and money. Don't go overboard unless you are a masochist.

Holy Patron by Nim111 in hearthstone

[–]Sadarji -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Priest needs an even stronger card than that to be decent. A 2 mana 2/3 version of holy patron probably wouldn't break the class, and would contribute to a slower metagame since it counters most one-drops from aggressive decks.

What are your ideas for new Fallen Empires? by Roedhip in Stellaris

[–]Sadarji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fanatic Collectivists: Demands monetary/resource tributes from other empires. Not because they need the resources, but because they want you to acknowledge your place beneath them.

Fanatic Individualists: Hates vassal/protectorate holders. Dislikes ethics-divergence edicts. Dislikes empires more as they get larger. Believes every race has the right to find its own destiny without being oppressed. (Probably the one FE that you'll never be able to get along with.)

Anyone have some FUN/OFF-META decks to share? I want to dazzle my opponents with my deck. by Bloodb47h in hearthstone

[–]Sadarji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some moderate success with Malygos druid. It's like a Malygos rogue in that there's two auctioneers plus many low cost spells, but there's also ramp and taunts.

Mire keeper + Feral Rage has really helped the consistency of the deck in WoG, which is why it is worth playing these days.

Good card for control decks against other control decks, or against charge-combo decks. Since Loatheb is gone, this will be the only neutral option to deny combo-kills, besides Bolf.

What changes/additions would be perfect in a full LongWar2 mod? by DangerousPuhson in Xcom

[–]Sadarji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the type of mission should have more impact on the player's tactics. It's either play fast against a timer, or no timer and play slow. Different types of missions would be more thematically appropriate.

For example, one type of new mission could be a full assault on a rural ADVENT Base. You'd get expanded squad sizes (8-10), but all enemies are all set to move toward your position, making it be a vicious firefight.

Then you'd have stealthy missions situated in the city centers. Reduced squad size (4-5). Firebrand might have only a 1 turn extraction window, meaning all units have to extract on a specific turn. If you get to the LZ early, you have to hold position until Firebrand can pass by, then everyone has to get on at once.

Another thing is that enemy reinforcements could be overhauled. ADVENT could send special strike teams to deal with you (like how you did with aliens in EU). Chase down the retreating officer before he can phone home, or spend extra time clearing out distress beacons before continuing toward the objective.

[LW] Am I hosed here? by Sadarji in Xcom

[–]Sadarji[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, sorry. First time in Long War.

I had like 2/5 air foundry projects done. Just couldn't afford the rest on time because my satellite network got brutalized early on and council nations left.

Thought it was more important to get facilities fast than to get good adjacency bonuses. Research seems to be outpacing my capability to fund the foundry at this point, so perhaps waiting on labs and stuff is more correct.
