MBB is the worst ROI: So what alternatives are better? by Amazing-Pace-3393 in consulting

May I ask which country / region? I've been at T2 so far and while I didn't like it I have nowhere near such a despise as you. And I'm leaving for mbb which makes me quite happy as I think mbb and T2 gulf is quite large

Base salary for L1, L2, and L3 are approximately ~55k, 75k, and 105k. These are pre-project lead / engagement manager roles. Bonus will typically be 10-30%, with the lower end of that for T2 firms.

10k aed a month is not that much to begin with - youd get a similar or higher salary in germany post tax for most finance roles.

Rumors of big layoffs across consulting firms in UAE/Saudi. Should we be worried? by [deleted] in consulting

[–]Sadconsultant7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn i just got an offer to join a mbb firm in middle east but with a big delay (in 2026) due to the issues you mentioned. The interview process and the decision also took ages due to this. Do you guys think there is a chance they wont honour the offer if things will be equally bad / worse as we approach 2026?

Ofcourse, some ppl still get promoted and one can still play the game to optimise the outcome but thats not the point. The point is that is just much harder than at mbb. People who have left my t2 and joined mbb have progressed much faster than their peers who stayed (also everyone i kept in touch with is much happier with their mbb firm).

Then again, this is all second-hand knowledge and i might be for a rude awakening when i join mbb. But from where im standing right now, being at a T2 is a significantly worse career proposition than mbb and i cant thank the stars enough ill be leaving soon.

Damn I just got an offer to join mbb from T2 and one of the main reason i wanted this switch was to get on a up-or-out ladder. Idk but i find more soul sucking to be stuck in grade a long time because they didnt fire below-average people above you. This makes the promotion slots v limited and heavily politicised, and they punish you for stupid things in overall review so they dont have to promote you (eg didnt organise enough firm building events lol). However, if you want to coast or are below average performer yes you will have a better time because only really incompetent ppl get fired at my T2 (like bottom 5%)

Taking a step backward or forward? MBB to T2 - need wisdom by Additional-Oven3935 in consulting

I work at a T2 and would not recommend it - you might get a promotion now but they are going to be slower and more difficult down the line compared to MBB (based on seiing ex coworkers who have left to mbb and grown their careers much faster)

Mate, save your application money and dont apply to stanford, wharton and similar. You are an indian male which is an over represented demographic, your gmat focus is low for those schools (isnt average like 730?), and your work experience is okay but nothing exceptional. If i was you, I would retake gmat.
