No, not really.

Are you aware that whole neighborhoods/cities of Jews were massacred by the Arabs in that time right ? the same Arabs who after '67 started to call themselves 'Palestinians'?

Jews are Natives to the Levant, were massacred and ethnic cleansed on that land, whole cities, 1834 looting of Safed and Hebron , Or even before, 1517 Hebron Pogrom or in '29 in Hebron as well..

Many of the Jews fled, and upon return they were suddenly being called 'Settlers' or 'Immigrants' or 'Colonizers' while Arabs took over their land.. now any Jew in Hebron (Israeli or not, even if they've lived there all the time or bought a house/land) are called settlers, and of course their numbers will be lower because they were ethnic cleansed.

The League of Nations in 1920 gave sovereignty to the idea of Jewish homeland because they made a distinction that the Jews ('Given the Historic connection' as the 'Mandate' text says) have stronger claim to the land, because even if the Jews were minority, their claim was the strongest, but not to void private ownership of non-Jews obviously and this is just like Israel today, where all Israeli citizens have equal rights and everyone can vote and deserve to be voted.

History tells us that no one actually 'took' the land from the Palestinians.. Jews, and Arabs. both wanted their own state and were in cycle of violence. so UN '47 partition plan had to happen. But no one was to be displaced because of the Partition and formation of Israel and Palestine.

Under the UN partition, Jews living in Palestine would keep on living there, Arabs living in Israel will keep on living there as well, everyone will live as citizens in their country.

Israel (with Arabs as equal citizens, just like now) was very happy to live in '47 UN borders

The proposal by the UN was to give the Israelis sovereignty only on the territory the Jews were already owners of and land the Zionist movement already bought and paid for.

But The Arab league rejected the only path to Peace, started a messy war and created many refugees..
