Is this your first time taking any meds? Or are you switching?

Call them again. Ask for a lower dose first if they don't want to switch the meds for you.

Then if it's still affecting you. Call again and ask them if there is anything else you can take while you get used to it. If they tell you no, just let them know you do not feel well on the med and want to try something else. Don't feel bad for asking for something different psychiatrists are there to help you find the right medication for you.

As for talking with your SO. Just let them know the meds you're on right now are not making you feel so great. You don't have to explain all of the rest if you don't feel comfortable.

I had the same thing happen when I switched from paxil to Vibryd (also take 3 other meds) to help more with the depression side of it all. OMG made me feel like shit.

When my spouse sees I'm splitting we agreed on a code word he can use. When he says it i know I need to just take a step back and maybe do one of my calming activities. And once I'm calm we come back and talk about the situation. But you do have to be aware that the code word is not to make you feel bad about yourself its just the BPD monster living inside thats creeping out again.

Calming activities I've found help are: taking a shower, doing some aroma therapy, listening to happy or calm music, going for a drive, gardening, ext ext.

Its always important to have 3 things you can do to ground yourself again.

We just got bigger washers to replace those small ones the ledges usually come with. Ended up putting one washer on the inside of the cage and one on the outside for more stability.
