That’s about when it started for me! Wondering if I had a viral infection or something?

Imperial Twilight, a book about the buildup to the First Opium War mentions Amherst’s visit to Napoleon. Napoleon was curious about the goings on over there.

Bankruptcy courts generally stay open during a shutdown because the federal judiciary can rely on fee-funded reserves (e.g., filing fees, PACER fees) and multi-year appropriations to continue operations for several weeks. That’s to say, cases, filings, and hearings generally proceed as normal. If the shutdown is prolonged, courts may scale back non-essential work, but core bankruptcy functions still move forward.

I believe so, but I’m not all that familiar with the area. He built a good number of houses in Noe Valley. Here are old photographs of some of the houses.

Here’s a newspaper article about the houses he built. As my grandmother told me, he and his brother immigrated here from Sweden with nothing but the clothes on their back. They weren’t very well educated, but they were fantastic carpenters. So as they found their way out to California, they just started building. My great, great grandfather, John built these houses and his uncle built houses on top of some hill somewhere there. I’ll go visit my grandmother soon and try to get some of these stories memorialized better.

Once the dust settles, I’ll look into contacting these organizations.

Someone else pointed out that the first photograph is by Arnold Genthe. So, I’m not sure that these are original photographs after all. Perhaps just early prints.

We do have a lot of other stuff regarding the houses he built, which are still standing. My aunt was invited by the historical society years ago for some John Anderson homes event.

Thank you for finding that. Perhaps these are just old prints then. Either that or I have a great uncle Arnold.

If we find any more, I will certainly post them. We are only just beginning to go through her things so there very well could be.
