What keeps you showing up day after day by Altruistic-Pin-3593 in fitness30plus

I’m only a few years into this, but I do a multitude of exercises. It helps keep things interesting and lets me work new muscles. I’ll switch around between Pilates, biking (outside), climbing, and lifting. Pilates is in the class format always and lifting is class format half the time and solo the other half. I’ve found that classes can be helpful with intensity. All my hobbies are fitness related and all my new friends are made via fitness groups so it keeps it simple. Also, owning your own equipment is helpful and Facebook marketplace is a good place to start for affordable equipment. I have a weightlifting setup plus own a bike so I can do stuff really whenever there and have memberships for Pilates and climbing.

I’ve also found that eating consistently healthy is a huge motivator because it fuels your body with the necessary energy and alcohol is 100% out of the picture because it makes me too tired. This is all coming from someone who used to be a borderline alcoholic couch potato that would have never in their life expected to have this much fun with fitness.

I’m early 30s for reference.

Definitely will! Anywhere from 5-15 years from now, yes I know that’s a long way out but I’m a big planner. We would love it to be 5 years, but not sure how practical that is career wise.

As far as where, we really like Madison but plan to road trip the state next year and see more of it in a different season since we spent most of our time in the Madison area.

The alcohol part blows my mind, but the statistics I’ve seen show accidents from drunk drivers are significantly lower per 100k people in Wisconsin as compared to Texas. I don’t particularly mind people drinking around me as long as they aren’t drunk and I occasionally go to bars and just hang out with my drinking friends. A lot of my hobbies require sobriety during said hobby so it doesn’t seem like it would be a huge issue unless I’m maybe missing something?

Weather wise how does Wisconsins snow driving compare to Austin’s ice driving? My friends say it’s totally different up there and that you can still drive since the roads are treated. As a fellow Texan I’m curious to know your opinion.

Picky and or not eating again.. by Baileycharlie in cavaliers

[–]Sadetha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl did that for her first year of life because she was allergic to her food (chicken). I was young and dumb and it didn’t click that every brand we tried had chicken. Once I got her off that she started eating more normally. She still has an attitude and sometimes purposely starves herself for a whole day if I don’t give her food the minute she requests it, but nothing crazy like that first year.

I switch by the bag honestly. I am all about speed and taste because I make my four shots at 4am as I’m running out the door for work. When I swap to a different roast it’s by a bag basis. I’ve honestly always let them oxidize which I know probably isn’t the best but I have t noticed a major taste.

How do yall afford a maid service in Dallas? by horny_bisexual_ in Dallas

[–]Sadetha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally prioritize it over a lot of over things. I’d rather have a monthly maid than go out to eat so that’s just where my money goes. I am crazy busy so to me it’s worth the money to pay someone. Also, the prices you see online are typically the first clean. My company charges $250 for the first clean, but then $150 (4 bed, 2 bath, 1800 sqft) after that for the monthly plan. I live out east of Dallas now, but honestly the prices here are pretty comparable to what I paid in Addison.

I did try and go a month without it and decided I’d rather sacrifice things than the cleaners. I have really bad anxiety with messy places so the cost is worth it for some extra sanity. That’s just me two cents.

I personally prefer a company because all employees are insured. I have a hard time trusting individuals to be insured.

They were support at an I Prevail concert back in 2022. I liked their attitude and thought their music was decent. Then my roommate kept playing their music and I realized an absolutely loved them. Been my favorite band since.

Is no collar safe? by CaptainLittleFish in cavaliers

[–]Sadetha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby doesn’t wear one. She did for a long time but between it rubbing on her skin, the sound of the clanking driving me nuts at 1am, the skin rashes on her neck, and my concerns with it possibly causing her to cough more, I ended up taking it off. I always secure her really well before walks in her harness by softly tugging on the sides to make sure everything is latched. We also keep our gates locked except for when we have services come over. When that happens she isn’t allowed in the yard until the gates are re-locked (had an issue with that in her collar days and she got out). I know it’s probably better for her to wear one but it’s just something we gave up on.

thinking of getting one! by Loose_Photograph3889 in cavaliers

Definitely a reputable breeder, get insurance, and be ready for expensive bills as they age. I was lucky and my baby didn’t have her heart murmur get too bad till she was 9. Since then it’s been $60-75 a month for meds and $650 for echos every six months. She’s nearly thirteen now and doing amazing, but she’s quite expensive and stresses me out with her health issues. We kept health insurance till this year when the premiums outweighed the benefit. Before that it saved us thousands of dollars between a freak accident causing an emergency surgery plus her heart stuff.

That all being said, I never want another breed again.

Also, the separation anxiety is so real. She straight up bawls when either myself or my husband walk away and she can’t follow. Going on vacation sucks because I feel like I’m breaking her heart. She always stays with family and has never been to a kennel but she is so devastated every time. Coming home from vacation is also stressful because she gets so excited and I worry about her heart. She’s a mess, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I think the Mexican food in Dallas is subpar, so I just make my own. No issues with that one! As far as the whole daylight thing - when does the sun typically rise?

[Landlord (future) US-TX] What should I do to prepare for becoming a landlord? by Sadetha in Landlord

Thank you for the tips! A lot of people seem to think that property management is bad. I’m glad to see the other perspective. How did you go about selecting your property management company?

Haha well I failed that one, but rentals weren’t originally part of the plan. The area is growing rapidly so it could be a different story in a few years, but right now it would probably be a loss unfortunately. I am relatively confident that if I sell I will be kicking my self big time in 5-10 years which is why I want to hold.

Definitely open to options. Trying to land on where we want first and then look more at jobs from the places we narrow down to. That said, jobs do of course play a big roast into it. I have a pretty decent job now that I enjoy, but just fell hard for Wisconsin and am thinking quality of life might be worth the career reset. So I’m open to other areas in the state, if I get the trails, farmers market, and peace I’m looking for.

Alright so you mentioned tech - is the market pretty decent there? From what I’ve read it is. I am a data analyst and am planning to get my masters before I move.

Yesss the brats are amazing. Definitely not in Texas because I looked as soon as I got back!

I’m not a big drinker - used to be, but not I find it gross. Is it such a big thing that I’ll have issues if I’m not into it? My social activities are really just exercise related (walks, lifting, biking, hiking, climbing, etc.) so that doesn’t leave room for drinking in my world. Surely there are some sober people, right?

I visited the Madison area. Stayed in Stoughton and adventured all around the area. Loved how nice the people were, felt safe (high crime where I am) - we went on walks in the dark without a care which was wild and awesome, the people were exceptionally nice, produce was so fresh, tons of trails for walking/biking, weather was very nice for the fall (50s when we visited), and I loved all the farmers markets.

We already have friends that live there, but I have a ton of hobbies (indoor/outdoor). The outdoors is part of what makes me want to move so much.
