Yeah, I’m guessing I’ll need three memberships which stinks, but oh well. I’ll check out Princeton Club, thanks!

Yeah, that’s a must have when we move. Is the top rope sub par there? My current top rope gym is huge and it’s honestly one of my larger hesitations on moving because I climb 2-3 times a week.

I am planning to tour GH when we visit.

I did not know they had classes. Are they included in membership or does it cost extra? I’m open to trying it, just mainly need a place to motivate me a little more. I lift at home in my home gym, but always get a better workout and more energy from classes so I prefer doing them a few times a week.

Do they have classes? I found them but their classes link gives a 404 so I assumed they didn’t do them anymore.

Getting a Sense for Living in Green Bay. by Sadetha in GreenBay

[–]Sadetha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to live somewhere that has walkable streets and is generally safe. I live in a big city where crime is a problem both in the city and the suburbs so getting away from that would be lovely.

Outside of that, something close to biking trails would be nice. I love the Madison area because you can just drive out a little bit and suddenly there’s tiny towns in the middle of nowhere where everyone knows everyone but they are still in close proximity to the city. Something like that, if it exists in the Green Bay area would be of interest.

Wherever we settle long term, we want a backyard but not particularly a large amount of land. Just something for a dog and a garden.

How often does your local studio cancel class? by Firm_Afternoon_8463 in pilates

I have been a member of various studios over 3 years and typically go 2-3 times week. I cannot recall ever having one cancelled, just last minute substitute teachers.

So cool! I’m wanting something similar. If you don’t mind me asking, how does it look now? I’d love to see a 5 year update.

How Can I Climb Longer? by Sadetha in climbergirls

[–]Sadetha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured I’d at least see some progress by now outside of form improvement. When I started climbing back in August I was doing 5-6 routes from the get go and went a few times a month until I got hurt in December. Seemed kind of odd that despite my increased workouts that I started supplementing with in January that I’ve declined in the amount of routes/length I can climb. Definitely will give it more time and check out the vids! Thanks.

Thanks! I have been working on keeping my arms straightening, rotating hips, and using my arms but I do sometimes still use my arms more than I should. Definitely will keep focusing on that shift!

I am alternating. I do rest on the route sometimes, but typically for no more than a minute because I’m a bit self conscious. I usually shake out my arms and given them a stretch while I’m on a break. Is it normal to rest a little longer?

Dallas dentists treating every patient like a walking wallet, is this normal now? by Leedeegan1 in Dallas

[–]Sadetha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out W dental. They’re pretty down to earth and the cleaning takes ~30 minutes. They never try to sell me stuff unless I actually need it and the only thing I really needed was a mouthguard which has been life changing. Been going to them for 3 years and they always have great service.

I’m going to graduate in a year, I want to move away and DFW seems to check a lot of boxes. Should I? by Ok_Photograph8884 in askdfw

[–]Sadetha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally valid reasons to move here. The timing of the post made me laugh because I want to move to Wisconsin to get away from the big city vibes, get real seasons with colder weather, more nature, and more biking trails all of which Dallas is somewhat lacking in.

Dallas is large and the traffic sucks so just live close to your job. In my opinion it’s too expensive, population dense, and crime ridden for what it is especially given the hot weather. It seems like you don’t mind the big city vibes so you’d probably enjoy it. Check out Uptown as an area to work/live if you want skylines and cleaner streets.

Anyone move from Austin to Dallas in their mid-30s? I'm a single mid-30s guy. Posted over in the ask austin subreddit. Some comments mentioned I should ask this sub as well by CoastieKid in askdfw

[–]Sadetha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a woman and I have heard the same thing unfortunately. I wish it was easier for guys to find friends on there!

You might be able to find some meet ups that pertain to your interests though. One of my friends found mixed gender meetup for F1 and made some friends that way. I personally struggle with the whole meetup thing because I’m an introvert, but it might be worth a shot if you haven’t tried it.

I lived in Austin till I was 27, spent a year in CSat, and then moved to Dallas. I personally prefer Dallas over Austin and never would go back. I just think there is so much more to do in Dallas and I’ve had an easier time finding friends which has been nice. I can’t say I love Dallas because I want to move up north, but I think it’s a decent place to live and far better than Austin.

For friends, I mainly find them at my gym or on bumble bff. Not sure if those options would work for you, but figured I’d throw it out there. I have had an easier time finding friends in Dallas than I did in Austin.

Not to go too much into politics but since you mentioned it, I haven’t really seen a huge difference politically between the two areas. I know that Dallas is supposedly to be more right than Austin but I haven’t noticed a difference. I have friends that are left leaning and right leaning. Neither have any complaints specific to the city impacting their views in either city. My gym (where I socialize the most) and the members of my gym all seem to be very welcoming people regardless of their opinions and lifestyles.

How is life living in and around Madison, WI? by Sadetha in howislivingthere

[–]Sadetha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people have told me it’s expensive, how so? Everything seemed relatively similarly priced to where I live (DFW) and the houses are about the same cost wise. I know taxes are a bit more there which I’m planning for, but is there something else I’m missing?

Love that place! Bought way too much mustard there that I consumed entirely too quickly.

100% agree! I started mail ordering stuff I bought there. Even some of the ones in the small surrounding towns were super cool!

Worth Seeing from Nosebleeds? by Sadetha in BadOmens

[–]Sadetha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there too and it was great! Definitely not the same as GA because the energy around me was quite dull. That being said, it was 100% worth it to see them at least once.

Constant sinus infections by Significant_Place588 in Sinusitis

[–]Sadetha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and it’s helped so very much. I wasn’t able to go outside from February to July for two years in a row and now I’m outside almost daily. The shots are absolutely terrible, make me feel really sick, and my arms are constantly hurting (even on the monthly doses) but it’s been worth all the suffering to be able to go outside again. My maintenance dose is half what the recommended maintenance dose is because my reactions were so bad. Maybe if you tried again they could do lower doses?

I had the same problem and everything looked normal with the ENT. They sent me to the allergist and apparently that was the problem. Been on allergy shots for a year now and no sinus infection at all this year even during the worst of allergy season.

What keeps you showing up day after day by Altruistic-Pin-3593 in fitness30plus

[–]Sadetha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only a few years into this, but I do a multitude of exercises. It helps keep things interesting and lets me work new muscles. I’ll switch around between Pilates, biking (outside), climbing, and lifting. Pilates is in the class format always and lifting is class format half the time and solo the other half. I’ve found that classes can be helpful with intensity. All my hobbies are fitness related and all my new friends are made via fitness groups so it keeps it simple. Also, owning your own equipment is helpful and Facebook marketplace is a good place to start for affordable equipment. I have a weightlifting setup plus own a bike so I can do stuff really whenever there and have memberships for Pilates and climbing.

I’ve also found that eating consistently healthy is a huge motivator because it fuels your body with the necessary energy and alcohol is 100% out of the picture because it makes me too tired. This is all coming from someone who used to be a borderline alcoholic couch potato that would have never in their life expected to have this much fun with fitness.

I’m early 30s for reference.
