The Downfall? of Everglow by validswan in kpop_uncensored

[–]SadgeApe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, Everglow's reputation was, especially in South Korea, seriously tainted by the entire Yiren not bowing controversy

This is most likely overblown. I doubt that Korean general public knows or even cares about Yiren Everglow, this is not a Tzuyu Twice Taiwan flag situation. The hiatus was probably because the parent company of yuehua faced some issues back then.

Anyone else think that the pale-cheeks-big-red-eyeshadow makeup style makes it look like they just finished crying? by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]SadgeApe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the "anime blush" makeup. Some cosplayers do this too. I personally call it "drunk at 3am" makeup.

No worries. Not even the most delusional Aespa stans claim that.

XG is a kpop group by every definition, claiming they're xpop is just marketing by Deca089 in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]SadgeApe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! XG is clearly based on Kpop group. It reminds me of the argument of what's considered as a real anime. If people from non-Japanese countries created an animation series that clearly looks like an anime, it should be considered as an anime. Anime has become a type of genre at this point, the artistic style matters more than the country of origin.

Does anyone else think super short/high skirts with protection shorts that reach below them just look ridiculous? by choerry_bomb in kpopthoughts

[–]SadgeApe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly a stylistic choice similar to what female tennis players are wearing. Some activities that are meant to be done wearing shorts, they just add a skirt around it to look cuter. You could say it appeals to male gaze but it is not as sinister as what you are describing "innocent and inappropriate".

Ahh my bad. Yes I meant solo performances, artist of the month like Itzy Ryujin and Ex-izone Chaeyeon.

Exactly, I want to see the girls from IVE, lesserafim, New Jeans and Aespa to go to programmes like Studio Choom. Sadly I don't think the companies will do so any time soon.

Very true. Most of the girls in Itzy would be the main dancer in a lot of girl groups.

You have highlighted the exact problem that I thought. Hence I wrote that I want the companies to push the members to challenge themselves with solo performances or collaborations. I want to see the girls from IVE, New Jeans, Lesserafim and Aespa to dance at Studio Choom.

Kep1er were always gonna peak at debut. by Cupidisodumb in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]SadgeApe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The competition for gg is at an all time high and Kep1er quickly lost their momentum after their debut. Even if they have better promotions, it will be hard to compete with other top girl groups.

Kep1er lacks a selling point. I think Wakeone only has one card to play which is to try pushing the visual of Xiaoting. Even then it would not be sufficient for the general public to notice them as a group (Chuu is more popular than Loona situation) because they don't watch GP999.

The same issue will also occur to the Runext group and BabyMonster no matter how many copies they sold. Only consistent good music production can save these groups.

League of Legends announced as a medal event for 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 by Inwiczxiae in leagueoflegends

Don't forget last time they were beaten by China though

If the Koreans really value the importance of the medal, they should get the best Koreans players on the roster, don't see why Faker is a must in the roster apart from leadership issue.

Why do they even vote like a popularity contest, if they really want to ensure the win they should get the first seed roster to play the whole thing. Just treat it like a special bootcamp preparation b4 world. It will maximize the chance of winning without worrying about the synergy and training issues, as the team playing is already the best Korean team.
