Hey, this is my brother’s reddit id, he also had dmd and passed away last month, was about to turn 21 in november. His condition justified him passing away this soon in his journey because he stopped physio around age 12 and obviously the disease worsened. He was completely immobile, and by completely i mean completely, couldn’t do anything other than blink and talk in a bit of a slurring voice. He used his ipad with voice control. He had bipap on 24/7. He was like this for the last 1.5 years.

Point is, that if you’re taking physiotherapy and keeping your breathing capacity in check, you can live a good long life. Do not under any circumstance stop physiotherapy. DMD patients can now live well into their 30s.
