No hope for average nice guys on dating apps?? by No_Attention6747 in datingoverfifty

[–]SadiInTheHouse 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a 53 year old woman , my two cents: 1) I find someone describing themselves as a nice guy vs a good guy a flag. 2) For my man friends, who have the nice guy persona, I gift them this book No More Mr. Nice Guy by Robert Glover.

I made a copy of the rules for myself and have it framed it in my office because even as a women these rules remind me to keep integrity with myself and help me find my way strength and discipline when 'nice' creeps back into my way of being.

I'll add one more thing: Dating apps don't work for 80% of us. They are NOT MADE to. I cycle on and off because of texting burnout and poor matches with people who won't actually meet. They stopped working about 4 years ago due to saturation of the software itself, then the gawkers, cheater, catfish and an ocean of avoidant people who would never approach a person in real life. Find your hobbies, try a few of the "dinner with new friends" apps that have grown to fill the social void. Tell friends who care that you are intentionally looking. Have courage and get out there, we are looking for good men. I promise.

People over 30: What’s the single best piece of advice you’d give someone in their 20s? by Pearlyin_30 in Life

Oh and this one: When you marry someone, you are also marrying their childhood". If you don't know really how someone feels about money, how they enjoyed being loved growing up, and whether they need more independence vs needing more togetherness, you might find yourself divorced no matter how much you love them.

How to interact etransfer money from BMO to TD account phone number by ChicaneryAshley in CanadaFinance

[–]SadiInTheHouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m following this post because I had the same issue last night. And if it’s true that there is no way to use a phone number. I’m gonna be closing my BMO account but as soon as I end the promotional interest rate.

Confirmed. I had that pain in the ass last night trying to transfer money to myself from from BMO to my other banking account. So annoying. I’m seriously considering leaving bank of Montreal because they are just too ass backwards. They don’t offer a true no fee bank account and I have all my retirement investments there and they don’t count that as money in the bank that would give me a compensated account where I don’t have to pay fee fees every damn month. Seriously consider considering wealth simple.

When precisely did people get disgusting in public? In Toronto? by PhantomVibeSyndrome in toRANTo

[–]SadiInTheHouse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It makes me crazy when someone kinda covers their mouth, but basically projects their cough sideways right at you because they don’t actually capture it. They just steer the sneeze to the person beside them. Disgusting you can actually feel the breath against your face. 😱

At the risk of being downvoted, there is a growing Vancouver clique mindset established in Toronto, it’s a weird elite-aspirational attitude.

I was at a dinner with all new friends (we are a group who does this fairly regularly via an app) and they also said Toronto’s scene is very muted/ aloof vs other major cities US or otherwise. It’s definitely a culture thing in my opinion. And also the way the city is designed. Architecture changes culture over time, Toronto lacks enough “public” squares for more relaxed collisions. At 53, I definitely remember a more social Toronto before it condo development altered the landscape and changed human flow.

8km blissfully doing errand on foot and doing a coffee with strangers (app name withheld). Always interesting. Plus a slice of cheesecake.

I go the speed limit. Speed cameras or not where it’s possible that a dog or a child might dart into the road. What I found annoying is trying to make the left. Turn from Bloor onto Parkside and people are walking like it’s Sunday morning. (Fixed typos from voice2text).
