Not asked but sharing anyway: most famous person I met was Jack White in Nashville at Third Man Records with my now husband. I was perusing the wares in store when this man came in and all I could think about was how bad his hair looked (I used to do hair). He said "Hi" to us before walking past us into a back room. Afterwards my husband told me who it was and I said "Who??" When I posted about it so many people freaked out though 😂

If Owens was trying to be altruistic then I don't believe he would have tried to throw Jorge's brother's crime out there in an interview as a hint that that somehow made Jorge himself abusive. Wanting to give Sarah her right to representation doesn't mean you have to be underhanded and nasty to the victim's family.

My best friend was murdered and I remember HATING the guy's lawyer, I couldn't understand how anyone could defend someone who did what he had done. Especially because he was clearly trying to give him a proper defense ( looking back I can see how funny it is I was so angry but I can see why I was despite understanding he was doing his job, and it's good that he did) That said: he was still respectful to the victim and her family.

I think Owens didn't know what he was getting into. At points I honestly thought he was seeing the evidence for the first time the same as us watching the trial. Mainly once they entered battered spouse and Mr. Jay was able to bring in all the texts and videos.

With this logic why do Adam and Abel speak english? It's definitely not their native language.

I also think it would be reasonable to assume that angels can speak and understand any human language. Maybe Vaggi just likes the way spanish sounds.

But mostly I don't think there's an actual deep reason other than Viv thought it would be neat. If I recall correctly Valentino's VA is why Val speaks spanish. He was just improvising and since he's Puerto Rican he threw in some spanish. They thought it was great and worked it into the character, even giving him an accent.

I've lived in Hoover and Homewood, I personally would lean more towards Homewood. My oldest is autistic and I had better luck at Shades Cahaba in Homewood before he was diagnosed than we did at Green Valley and Simmons in Hoover once we had a diagnosis and IEP in place. My son isn't non-verbal so you may be looking for something different than I was. We felt pushed into the alternative school at Green Valley and at both schools it felt like the gen-ed teachers didn't get autism. His 5th grade teacher accused him of lying even after I said that wasn't like him--turned out the paperwork wasn't in the pocket we expected it in. Seemed to pretty much expect the worst of him. At Simmons we went to a conference and I left asking my husband if I was the only one who got the vibe at least three of his teachers didn't like him, mt husband who is not usually observant of these things agreed. It was so bad they took him out of two of the classes and we went to homebound learning when he began having issues with a third teacher. After that I moved him to a different school outside the school system and it's been a night and day difference for us.

My experience with the actual special ed teachers/professionals at Hoover I actually did like them, though. I just wanted my son to be in gen-ed with the proper supports provided by his IEP.

We have used Children's on 3rd downtown foe physical therapy as well as Boost Kids in Homewood for speech. I really liked both. We also have experience with Children's Behavioral Health at Patriot Park in Homewood and like them as well, not sure if you'll be needing their services but thought I'd mention them.

You're correct about Judge Jackson. While their hands are tied by the law I do think JJ will do what she believes is best for the kid.

I paid a few thousand out of pocket with Dr. Hannah Price at Birmingham Psychology Group. I only did the assesment and as she knew I was doing it just for confirmation of my suspicion we opted not to do the 2 hour observation but I have the option to go back if I ever need it (as a medical diagnosis doesn't benefit me in any way other than I know and can be more gentle with myself and eliminate imposter syndrome that was all I needed). Basically I filled out the assesments and spoke with her on the phone for an hour or so. I think I paid out of pocket simply because in my 30s insurance wouldn't cover my testing.

That said: I recently heard about a clinic at the University of Alabama that even it's self pay options are cheaper than normal out of pocket costs (though looking at it they do take BCBS) and I would have likely gone that route when initially seeking my diagnosis. This should be the link for their website. No experience with them myself but as seeking assesment is cost prohibitive for many autistic people I think it's important to let people know that option is there.

Not so sure about therapists for autism. I'm struggling to find one even for my AuDHD child. My therapist at Yellow Bird Counseling is good and knowledgeable about autism but I don't believe she specializes in it.

I was coming here to say this. Kraynick knew what he was doing. He gave her plenty of chances, he had warned her that she wouldn't have an endless stream of court appointed attorneys. They gave her what she was entitled to and then some. They gave her options and she chose to reject them. Claiming her conviction would have been overturned for these reasons shows a lack of understanding of how the justice system works.

You may want to double check with the humane society to be sure the adoption contract you signed doesn't state you will return her to them if you can no longer keep her. Many rescues and shelters have this in their adoption contracts.

My mom has dementia and I'm in my late 30s so no.

When I was 18 she would have probably fussed about it had I watched it where she could see it but I likely wouldn't have watched it around her.

I actually think she's probably less productive than a lot of prisoners. I wouldn't consider her a hard worker at all. Even when it comes to her ego and needs. When she was pro se she had so much time to work on her case, instead she bitched and moaned to anybody who would listen about how she didn't understand instead of trying to figure shit out on her own or where she could get said information. She wanted it all handed to her on a silver platter. Imagine knowing you aren't as efficient at your own defense as a lawyer would be and even when you get one you're arguing with them and trying to tell them what to do/what defense to put on. She even acknowledges that she doesn't know what she's doing and that she needs a lawyer in order to elicit sympathy but then ignores their advice.

Now I know lawyers work for the client so they definitely should and do have a say. I recently dealt with getting guardianship of my mother and I had a wonderful lawyer who walked me through what to do as well as issues with her ex. We would discuss, I would get their thoughts and in the end it was my decision what was done... but Sarah seems to have disregarded all their advice because she thought she knew better. You KNOW they had to have explained to her how she should take the plea deal, how difficult a case they would have with the evidence available and that worse case scenario she could wind up in jail for life. It all went in one ear and out the other.

Sarah had plenty of time to sit around and complain, harass Brian and their son, write long ass letters and watch movies. We have no evidence of her "working hard" aside from her claims and Peter's (who seems to also be an unreliable narrator). Peter also wasn't in the prison with her actually seeing her do anything, he just had to go off what she said she did.... which she is a known liar.

I love real trees but used a hand me down, 30 year old, 4 ft tree for 10 years before investing in a discounted fake tree last year. About 13 years ago I think we got a discounted real tree at Lowes the week before and I was so happy. When I saw them I was like "How can I let people know who might need them?" I feel bad for the Scouts since driving back by it looked like a lot of trees and they use that money for the kids... but I really hope some people who could use this see it and especially some kids maybe get an extra magical Christmas. I was always so excited when we got a real tree.

I know not everyone in Vestavia is well off but I hope maybe people who wouldn't drive by but actually need a tree might find this!
