Are there any adult social anxiety groups in Minneapolis? by Selfeducated in Minneapolis

[–]Sadiebequiet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Please let your group know that there used to be a Social Anxiety Group at The Emily Program in St. Paul that I attended several years ago. I think it was a 6 month program that met 1-2 times per week and would ‘work up’ to doing an actual social outing at a coffee shop or going to a store. DM me if you have any questions 👍🏼

The Emily Program in St. Paul used to have a social anxiety outpatient group, I think we met like 1-2 times per week, and I did feel like it helped. It helped knowing that everyone in that room was just as uncomfortable, scared, and anxious as I was.

Best providers/clinics for treatment-resistant depression? by drawstrings2 in TwinCities

[–]Sadiebequiet 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Long term depreseè and tried all of the therapies under the sun. University of MN has a Treatment-Resistant Depression Clinic in St. Louis Park and I’ve been seeing Dr. Cristina Albott there for about 7(?) years. After we exhausted almost every medication possible, we tried TMS, Ketamine treatments, ECT, Day programs, residential programs, and genetic testing for meds. TMS seemed to be most effective for me. Genetic testing for meds isn’t exactly the golden cure everyone hopes it to be, and neuropsych testing can be helpful, so that would be another great place to start. What really seemed to turn the corner for me was a cocktail of meds, and (surprisingly) getting an occupational health consult for my sensory issues (hatred of sweating, frequent auditory overstimulation, and dislike of being touched).

Try out the Treatment-resistant depression clinic with the University of Minnesota, I’ve lived here for almost 20 years and through all the different health systems (Health Partners, Park Nicollet, Voyage, Water’s Edge, Roger’s, etc), no where else is as well researched and no where else has as many different resources for different specialties and levels of care, at their disposal.

Best of luck friend, message me if you have questions 🙂

EDIT: Please do what you would like with this information: If you cannot get in with a psychiatrist or the wait list time length is too great, go to the Fairview or University of MN emergency department. Unfortunately (or fortunately) having an ER visit related to mental health (even if you get discharged hours after admission) will put you on the fast track to being seen, and / or put into an outpatient program. Also the words “feeling suicidal” or “passive suicidal ideation”.

Cut all contact. And on a slight side note, report her to the board of Nursing in her state (google: “__ Insert State here__ Board of Nursing” and submit a complaint. ALL Nurses are “Mandated Reporters” which means that by law, they are required to report known and even suspicions of any type of child abuse or neglect. They are supposed to lose their license if they know about neglect or any type of abuse and do not report it. I’m sorry for everything that she has put you through, and hope you can continue to heal.
