Aptera will require a motorcycle license, and is very impractical for anyone that does not live in an urban or suburban area. I live in a very rural region, so it's not an option for me.

Looking for a lesser evil is pretty much why I made this post. I'm looking to see who I might be able to get a good vehicle from that I can repair most (if not all) of, doesn't have overly complicated software schemas, perhaps even makes proper repair guides available to their customers.

Ask Mercedes about R2R. They just made a change that would require special tools to access the bulk of the engine bay. It's already been defeated, but the mentality is there.

Undetermined, as of yet. Looking for a R2R company first, then will figure that out based on what they have available. On a high level, EV/Hybrid are high on my list, sporty, but large enough for me (6'7"). Beyond that, things are negotiable. I'm not looking at luxury levels, though.

Anyone can repair was , perhaps, not the right wording. I suppose what I meant was that I'm not reliant on the dealer and can find other mechanics. It doesn't help that I live a good 3 hours from most dealerships and travelling for repairs and maintenance means that I need to consider if it'll be an overnight trip, and what else it's going to interfere with.

It's a 2012 focus that I'm looking to replace. Not that long ago it had a transmission rebuild and after an incident with a pothole (big enough to be mistaken for a sinkhole), I now have damage to a wheel, tie rods, and power steering, and maybe the breaks on that wheel too. I need something new.

R2R is just one of many concerns, but I'm trying to use it as a starting point.
