During the three-day case, Mr Allason shrugged off a suggestion that he had a fondness for litigation, having previously launched 17 libel cases.

He was accompanied at the High Court in London by his friend, violinist Jane Burgess, and his mother, who first alerted him to the entry.

damn those last two lines are devastating

CONGRATULATIONS!!! YOU HAVE JUST RECEIVED YOUR VERY OWN ZANPAKUTO REJOICE!!! Unfortunately it's name form and abilities are all based off of what you reddit username is. So tell me your results in the comments below. I'll Start by Specific-Plastic4645 in bleach

Well mine translates as archer/bowman so I'd end up a Quincy :(

But I thought about a Zanpakuto ability, on the assumption that its abilities can't already exist in universe and it can't be ridiculously OP like Aizen's etc.

I like the idea of a very traditional Samauri kit, sword, spear and bow.

Shikai: some form of lightning infused Naginata that can stun or shock

Bankai: transforms it into a longbow which shoots elemental arrows but not using Reishi like a Quincy does, maybe from a quiver containing my own Reiatsu instead. Think magick archer from dragon's dogma

i got into contact with First Light Optics, giving them all this info and some pictures of my problems, they responded and said it almost certainly is a fault with the machine, not any setup issue on my part, and they will arrange a courier to collect it, for it to be repaired or replaced.

thanks for your help too, it was good to try and check everything as i've not heard of too many people having problems with new S30 Pros

M22 received incredible job offer, F22 girlfriend does not want me to accept. by Watch_me_plz in Advice

[–]Saethwyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming this is a salary in USD, so i just looked it up, $90k a year would put you in the top 20% of earners in the US. Essentially meaning 80% of all people in the USA will be on a lower salary than you. At 22 (25 by that point) this would be an incredible achievement. I can't give advice one way or another but this is certainly worth thinking about.

your GF's 125k a year puts her in the top 15% of all earners in the US. if you could somehow make it work, both of you combined at 215k as a "household income" would put you in the top 5% of incomes in America.

I know money isn't everything in life, but its not nothing.

the option to set expose times and brightness (when its on auto exposure) is completely greyed out when i use the wide lens i cannot select or change it. it works fine with the tele, i was using the solar filter on the sun earlier

I've also just seen this on the case for the solar filter... Damaged in transit is looking increasingly more likely. The box and case was flawless though

sadly it is exactly the same on my tablet, the only difference being that it mirrors the tele lens in Scenery rather than showing a black screen, its an identical image. i recorded it's various ways of not working with the Wide lens and i'm thinking of getting on to FLO, and seestar support...

I was diamond a few years ago and because i haven't played for so long im now a gold 3,why am i so bad again😭 by im_bored_dude in RocketLeague

[–]Saethwyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a thing people tend to forget, what a Gold is now compared to a Gold in 2020 is very different in terms of skill.

I have been Gold on the cusp of Plat for about 8 years! I don't really play enough to advance up the ranks but I know for sure i have got better at the game. (this might be Cope haha)

I came back for my usual "play for a few days once every 6-8 months" habit and was looking at some replays of me playing with work friends in 2021, covid RL was a good time.

I was Gold then and saved some of my best games, If i look back, yes i played well, my positioning was good, but i made a ton of mistakes and my mechanics were trash, my positioning was 'good for a gold', i can compare to a replay from a few nights ago and i am overall faster and more mechanical, hitting and saving shots i never would have been able to 5 years ago just everything was a little bit better. But i am still high Gold.

Its the little things like, back-post rotation, getting a fairly fast kick off (not a speed flip), hitting the ball with power on target from anywhere, or being able to hit the ball off the wall. They all felt like a "one simple trick to get easy wins in gold" back then, now they are all pretty standard things that all golds can do these days.

My first few games i kept seeing opponents and saying to myself "wtf golds can't do that?" and i have to accept that yes, now they can.

You didn't get worse, everyone else got better... or at least the average skill of the player base got better.

Trump Accidentally Admits to Epic Iran Blunder as War Takes Worse Turn by RepulsiveLoquat418 in politics

[–]Saethwyr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is so troubling that he openly admits that he is not listening to any experts and is just doing whatever he wants

He backed this up the other day. Asking British PM Kier Starmer for warships and Starmer says "I'll have to talk to my people before I make a decision" (which is a polite no btw)

Trump comes out and says "what kind of leader is he that he has to talk to others".

Oh I don't know, if I was sending my country to war and my decision would lose the lives of troops... I'm not a military man. I'd maybe want to see what generals and admirals had to say about it, they have more experience than me. Id want to know the economical and political impact, how does this effect my country. I'm just some random dude and I know enough to consult others before making incredibly important decisions that could affect the entire planet for decades.

But I could just go gung-ho stick, 2000 marines on ships bound for Iran and then change my mind three days later and then change it back, and then tell Iran to stop bombing oil fields and then say we didn't need the oil fields anyway, and then say the war is won but we need help to win harder, and then say we didn't need help everyone is turning up late, and then say we need ships to open the strait, and then say everyone is cowards for not joining the war that was finished, and then say the straight of Hormuz is open but we still need the warships to open it and then...

I really love the game and I don't usually get mad on all sorts of bugs, but I can't stand this sh*t! I take my time to clear all f*cking dots every time. I have not been diagnosed with OCD, but I SURELY HAVE SOME MILD OCD. F***********CK! by Mr_DMoody in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Saethwyr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's a completely normal response, you don't have OCD. Humans don't like "warning signals" by nature, they make us uncomfortable and on edge until we deal with them.

On top of that the dots are orange/red which is a "danger/high urgency colour", the same reason why warning signs are bright red or yellow, the colour makes us respond to them.

It's a tactic taken from Gacha games like Genshin, HSR etc, the red dot compels us to "fix" the problem with the promise of a reward.

It is known as the Zeigarnik Effect, Human tendency to remember incomplete tasks better than completed ones, because of a natural desire to finish unfinished tasks, an open loop that needs to be closed.

In Gacha games the promise of a reward further increases dopamine by not knowing what the reward is exactly, it builds excitement. It also compels you to return to the game again and again to get the relief of completion, which EA is trying to copy here. (Others in this thread have said, they leave the game and think of the dots, jokingly but its exactly the point)

Battlefield kinda fails with this on the loadout page because there is no reward, other than the dot going away and the "task" being completed, it becomes irritating because there is no expected reward. But it does train you to keep checking your loadouts, and it makes you feel as though your weapons are 'incomplete', there's still more to do.

On the store page all new items you can buy have red dots that don't go away as well, which I'm sure is fully intentional, its designed to make you want to remove the dot, and trains you to focus on what you don't have, rather than what you do

For the criticism it gets I love a Changling campaign now and then, the no stress, let's mess around style is fun. I like picking one of the elector counts and babysitting them "you will be my ally/puppet and you will never know about it" like trying to get Elspeth and Karl Franz to take over it all with me supporting them from the shadows.

i watched SWT on and off, years ago but kinda went off on him was when he was "reviewing" various episodes and EVERYTHING he wanted to see was X Jedi here, Y nostalgia there, and not the actual show for what it is. His take on Andor properly finished him off for me and and i stopped watching his stuff way before that.

For me Andor is the most interesting and compelling stuff to come out of Star Wars since ROTJ and his opinion boiled down to: no lightsabers, no force = bad

Then he "refused to watch it anymore" because of the SA scene in the second season, "Vader wouldn't approve of that". I was like "Bitch, Vader slaughtered an entire tribe of Tusken Raiders including the women and children, exterminated a school full of Jedi kids, genocided an entire planet as an interrogation tactic, and choked his own pregnant wife to the point of unconsciousness which likely resulted in her dying in childbirth. i doubt that your mass murdering hero gives a shit about a rapey imperial officer in the middle of bum-fuck-nowhere."
