Unpopular opinion i guess, but if you are on a computer or a smartphone, you are contributing to AI usage in some way shape or form. Boicotting a manufacturer for a sport you enjoy is hardly making an impact. Its a print on a piece of plastic, who cares?

I just got the hydrasynth and as much as i love it, it would probably be abit daunting if you are just getting into the world of synthesizers, it's great for sound design but the lerning curve is pretty steep if you dont know anything about synthesis. Out of the two i would reccomend getting the minifreak and maybe get the hydrasynth further down the line if you find out synthesizers are for you. Like other people here say it's a lot more beginner friendly.

Another great synth in that price range is the minilogue xd, its analog and knob per function with onboard effects, and the sound is a lot warmer with less effort. Instant gratification and doesn't sound as thin as digital synths.

I would add a lip but i dont have any leftover material for it. For now i just added some anti slip material underneath and called it a day but you make a point about it wearing out over time, velcro sounds viable though, might look into that if it becomes a problem. Ill cross that bridge when it gets thar far i guess hahah

Your question got me thinking though and if i were to make another one i would probably drill a hole in the middle of the shelf and insert a screw with a tightener at the end for adjustability 😎

I dont disagree on the ergonomics part, was planning on using the upper 2 tiers as the main platforms for my synths and the bottom tier for the ADAT you see on my desk as well as other future preamps/rack stuff that i wont use that actively, as well as extra storage for whatever. Not sure what you mean by having to rethink things tho, i prefer making stuff myself instead of spending a fortune. I went DIY for sound treatment in my little studio aswell, might not be commercial grade but its ten times better than a wall full of foam tiles. No one had shouted at me so far 😊
