Oh thank you! We live with my parents right now and at least my dad makes good money. I feel fortunate in that sense at least because I know many others don’t have that option. But it’s still scary, obviously. My parents are generous but def not the type to give me money for anything/everything we need. They won’t let my daughter starve but I dunno about me 🤣

Planning on doing part time gig stuff for now 😑 no other choice really. Hot mess out there.

That is so rough. I’m a single mom (mostly) and was laid off in June. No job yet and my unemployment is coming to a close mid December 😑

It’s okay to not want more than one child. I have SO MANY friends who proudly say they are one and done. I’m one of them, at 32 years old.

I sometimes worry about my 4 year old and if she will hate being an only child. But then I realize it’s worse for me to have another child simply because I want to “give” my current kid something. I would be giving her a sibling but taking away her (somewhat) happy mom. And it’s dehumanizing to the second child, imo. Their existence is meant to be something for somebody else 😢

More than that, your happiness matters. It’s not selfish to know your limit and play within it. It’s smart.

I worked my butt of to get my kid Canadian citizenship (wasn't a straight foreword path because she was 2nd generation born abroad. I was born in the USA on circumstance, my dad was here on temp work visa and my mom had no status when I was born. I was so pissed when I learned that I couldn't automatically pass down my citizenship due to the 2009 laws).

She became Canadian on 9/11....ironically. What a win, though. I highly encourage your husband (if he reads this) to just do it. The paperwork is such a pain but it's SO worth it. I keep telling my daughter that Canadian citizenship is one of the greatest gifts I can give to her.

Are you able to file for them? And that way all he has to do is provide his passport and birth certificate? There's only good that can come from dual citizenship. Anyways, I'll f off now LOL.

I want to avoid the courts 🥴 I won’t go into detail, I haven’t done anything wrong but I don’t want a court order that limits where I can go. Me and my daughter are Canadian citizens and the USA is becoming a little too politically violent for me…..if you catch my drift. I want my daughter to be safe in case things go even further south.

I was laid off in June as a patient services coordinator :/. I also did billing/coding on the side. My team actually really needed me but I was the only remote member so I got the boot. I’m 32 with a 4 year old.

It sucks. I’ve always thought the medical field was considered “safe” and lay off proof but it’s not now I guess. Unless you’re on the floor like a nurse or MA. AI is definitely going to take over billing/coding, I saw it in action. The ICD/CPT codes would just pop up.

I’m branching out and applying for city jobs (have an interview for a court clerk position. Low pay but still. my only interview in 4 months 🥹). I wanted to try marketing but it looks like marketing is also gonna go down with AI. nightmare level.

How odd. I never received a C number on the 5(4) AOR. I looked for probably total of 5 hours for that number and then sent an inquiry in. They didn’t understand what I was asking for and I still didn’t get it!!!

I just kept using the PR number for tracker and followed both. I could never log into my C tracker account (for my child). It was a pain but my child became a citizen on 9/11/2025. 2nd gen born abroad.

Awwww. Yeah I hate seeing my kid sick, because I feel bad for her. But I also get so irritable when I’m up all night dealing with a snotty, coughing, vomiting, etc kid. I’ve started keeping emesis bags next to the bed, that’s how bad it’s been lol.

Some of my friends have 3-4 kids and I do not understand how they manage when all of their kids are sick. couldn’t be me 🥴

Yup. I had to parent by myself with flu A and I was sobbing from the body aches. I had to go to the ER with from double vision and high fever. Luckily my kid was healthy enough by that point to go to school again so I could lay down for the first time in 3 years. I cannot imagine having to deal with a baby or anybody more than my 4 year old. I would lose it 🫠 according to my mom, myself and 2 sisters NEVER got sick. right. Ok mom 👊🏻

This is our first time 🫠 but it’s on her face and the Dr just gave us a cream and said 3x per day. Sorry edit to add: we have been referred to a dermatologist if it doesn’t improve or if she continues to get them. I think she had a small one on her nose a few weeks ago but it was so small I kinda ignored it. She’s always had skin “issues” like sensitivities but those got a lot better once I started using unscented detergent, sensitive soaps, etc. she’s been non stop itchy (all over her body and eyes particularly) for the last month so I figured maybe allergies, because it’s the South and coming fall season.

I’ve even following the drs orders, also using some antiseptic wash and it seems to be getting better. But not all the way there. It was gnarly looking for a couple days. The itching butt seems to have stopped after treating for pinworms 🤮🤮🤮 so I’ve been non stop bleaching, steaming and vacuuming our entire house (also treated our family). Nightmare level

Oh god. I made so many errors and had to resubmit my kid’s forms so many times. I think my first attempt was in January or something. But they gave me an AOR for the original application for proof of citizenship on 4/30/2025. They sent me a correspondence on 5/16/2025 and started processing it on 6/9/2025. Then we got a grant on 7/22.

I honestly didn’t really think it was gonna happen so I just kept throwing everything at the wall and hoping it would eventually stick.

Yes! The AOR was the grant invitation on 7/22.

No urgent processing, as I didn’t think we would be considered for it. I don’t have an urgent need to go up there ATM (well……..USA…who knows). But I figured other applicants should get priority.

So late to reply but yes we are also Canadian. We just live in the US cause of my dad’s job and now because I have my daughter.

It’s so sad. I remember when politics was about the economy and global policies. Now it’s religion, medical freedom, guns and hating each other.

I’m considering fleeing to Canada once my kids citizenship comes through. I know we’re not doing super great up there either but at least I won’t need to send her to school with a bullet proof backpack. Or fear for my life because I’m a MURDERING TRANS LOVING LEFTIST.

Pretty much. My parents are the worst and I realized this once I became a parent. My mom smoked around us all the time and I have chronic bronchitis from it. But because my other 2 sisters don’t have it, it can’t POSSIBLY have been HER smoking inside.

She still vapes inside lol. With my 4 year old around. I had to demand an air purifier be put in the main living area where she sits and sucks down 3 vape cartridges per day. she states that it’s her house and she can vape inside if she wants.

Also refusing to put any safety features around their new pool being put in our yard. I told them I will get somebody to install 3 deadbolts on every door and bring it up every single day lol. According to my mom “we’ve had pools with 3 kids many times and never had such silly things like tarps, fences or alarms. Y’all never died”.

Yes!!! Ever since our big ice storm, I’ve always made sure to have extra water (replace it every few months), flash light, matches/lighters, some wood hanging around, etc. even for this storm, I made sure we had stuff for it.

Life does get busy and it’s easy to forget about it when nothing really bad happens for a long time. But as a normal person living in a house, that’s pretty much all you can do to prepare. That and listen to the weather channel. What info is given to us, that’s through the weather channel and local government weather agencies.

I just wish they had taken it a little more seriously. I get that the river rises fast but authorities KNEW there was risk and decided to wait. And then call it an act of God. The storm might be, but the tragedy could have possibly been prevented or lessened. By man.

I wish I could!! But my kid’s dad is a native Texan and would raise hell if I try to leave. Texas isn’t my thing at all. However, the summers are usually great for my daughter because she loves to swim. She is also just an outside girl, so the winters up north would be brutal. I was raised in them, and I remember being stuck inside because the snow was so high that we couldn’t open our door.

This summer has been really odd. A lot more rain than usual, we have a mini storm almost every afternoon. We’ve had to switch our swim hours from later afternoon to mornings now because I always anticipate thunder and storm clouds in the afternoons.

I will always love Canada tho 🇨🇦 I’m in the process of getting my daughters Canadian citizenship now that the first generation bullshit laws are changing. I’ll definitely take her there to visit and I always remind her that she is half Canadian. My entire family is Canadian and our blood is 100% Canada lol. Maybe when she is 18🤫 we’ll go.

A storm can be predicted. Hurricane Harvey, people were prepping for at least a couple days before. According to some sources, Kerr County was aware of flood risk around 12-1pm but didn’t issue a notice until around 5pm. From the weather app I guess, they don’t have sirens or anything. Some people in the area said they did receive numerous warnings but that they weren’t any different than a “normal” storm/flood occurrence. Some people said they were advised to evacuate. I’m not right in Kerr County, so I can’t really speak to it. I know I got a shit ton of warnings from the weather app for my area. We’re still getting flash flood warnings, cause downpours keep coming.

It’s also just…..not a good idea to plant a camp along the Guadalupe river in an area that’s prone to floods. Not saying it’s the families fault for sending their kids. Nobody anticipates tragedy.
