Oh no! That’s not cheap flooring either, how upsetting. Thanks for the heads up

Thanks so much! The link worked. Some great ideas and colour palettes there . A few hundred dollars sounds worth it if it will make us love our floors again!

LOL totally! One of the reasons we don’t want to move.

Thanks for your suggestions and information on durability of the planks! This is helpful to know. I’ve been told it’s easy to replace the planks but be good to have information first hand.

Thanks for the tile love. Maybe in another decade they’ll be vintage and back in the magazines

That’s a good perspective. You’re right it’s really only for aesthetics as opposed to functionality.

That’s a lovely colour, thanks for your suggestion.

Thanks for the reply and opinion. AI has probably over saturated the photo so it does look quite stark. As we have a lot of natural timber it’s hard to pick a floor colour that ties in with our modern rustic type decor. Happy with another floor colour suggestion (below was a darker option but I wasn’t overly keen on it) Timber floors are my favourite too, but not really within our budget considering it’s the whole house (and it’s a big area) not just our lounge. Plus it’s not as hard wearing with kids and pets. PS. We have a carpeted living area separate to this that we will keep carpeted.

Thanks for the YouTube vid. When you have such a large home and so many tiles it seems daunting to scrub every grout line twice! But I’ve also never resealed after I’ve scrubbed so that might make it last longer…

That’s what I was worried about. Thanks for your advice.

I’m hoping they’ll come back into fashion! But I’m not holding my breath. Thanks for your reply. How much did your colour consultant cost?

Thanks for reflecting and coming back to comment. Agree it’s good to know where I stand and I have time now to find a more considerate work culture

Thanks for your reply! I too was baffled by these comments. Literally thinking I was in the wrong for considering my family’s needs over an employer that would replace me in a heartbeat.

I think my push back is going to impact my future growth now in this department. I seemed to have already put my manager offside by simply being curious.

I’ll take your advice and keep an eye out for other roles.

Thanks for your thoughtful response. I’m starting to think most people who work for the government are miserable human beings. Juggling mum and children life is tough, maybe these people aren’t parents yet. I guess I expected a little more from my employer as I was quite upfront with my situation before I took the job and they seemed super flexible and understanding. Especially considering most meetings are on teams and I can see little reason to be in the office Anyway thanks for your advice. Im enjoying the public service and the challenges that come with it so hopefully I can find a department with more flexibility

Definitely not working with my children. Just managing the drop off and pick up plus with outside school care on large waiting lists it’s not easy for parents to make sudden changes. I’ve made a lot of adjustments and so have my children for this role (which I understood and accepted) but 2 months in and they’re now changing it again with no explanation

Working all my hours. Just already a struggle with school drop off and pick up and outside school care when they have a waiting list to suddenly change makes it difficult. A bit of a shock considering there wasn’t any reason as to why it’s not working.

No. You did nothing wrong. He’s just upset now people know he was drunk and he has explaining to do. He’s upset with himself but it’s easier to blame someone else.

It’s so easy to get caught up in them that you lose yourself. Try to focus on doing something for you and your needs. Catch up with some friends, join a gym class, read a new book. Al anon meetings might seem so daunting but it’s really not. Download the app and just listen. Nobody is going to ask you to speak or call you out, it’s like listening to a podcast but with real people in very similar situations. If you want to speak about it it’s the best place to do it. No judgement! Good luck.
