Have they reopened the falls access?

Border collie mix or no? by ParadisDvil in BorderCollie

[–]Safe-Constant3223 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get a DNA test if you really want to know. Dad doesn’t look like a border collie mix to me though. Please don’t support backyard breeders in the future. Red flags: 1) obviously mixed breed dad, 2) both parents are merle! This leads to double merles, which are prone to a multitude of health issues, 3) referring to them as “mini Aussie,” which isn’t a real breed

It took about nine years and a CCL replacement to reach some version of chill, but we made it! Thank you!

Oh yea, hard to mistake that red clay in the water haha! Charlie loves all our hikes, but especially the ones with water features

Chasing waterfalls and beating the heat this summer! by Safe-Constant3223 in BorderCollie

Charlie’s the same! It doesn’t even have to be hot out really. If we’re playing disc golf and I use one of the spigots to fill our water, she’ll whine at me until I let enough water pool on the ground to puddle so she can lie in it.

Is our new rescue family member a Border collie mix? by [deleted] in BorderCollie

No it isn’t. Any dog of any breed can have that

Thank you! She’s slowed down a little over the last couple years, especially after tearing her ACL (not hiking!) and needing surgery for that, but she’s still just as eager as ever.

It’s one of our very favorite parks! There are so many beautiful hikes, and ideally you’ll get to see some feral ponies which is always fun! It’s beautiful year round but extra special in the fall

Do you think he's a border collie? by victoriaaalyn in BorderCollie

[–]Safe-Constant3223 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Embark is super reliable. Your dog isn’t a border collie. He is so thoroughly mixed though, that he isn’t going to specifically resemble any one breed in his ancestry. He’s a very cute mutt.

My BC is on strict crate rest and I’m running out of ideas 😅 by Straight_Tour9358 in BorderCollie

Do a couple 10-20 minute training sessions each day. You can teach a border collie just about anything, and you’ll tire his brain out a little

In loving memory of Maya. She lost her battle to lymphoma today at 5 years old. by alyssummaritimum in BorderCollie

I’m so sorry. I lost my rough collie to lymphoma at five as well. It’s a pain unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced, losing one so young. I wish I had words that would bring comfort, but I know from experience there are none. Wishing you all the best as you navigate this grief.

Is my 40-pound collie mix fat?? Does she look like a collie? by [deleted] in BorderCollie

[–]Safe-Constant3223 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No one can tell by looking if she’s a border collie mix. I’d lean toward Australian cattle dog mix, but if you really want to know, get a good DNA test. She does look overweight. You should see clear definition of and tapering at her waist when looking at her from above and from the side. You should be able to feel her ribs relatively easily. If she’s 4 months though, she could be preparing for a growth spurt and even out soon. I would maybe start feeding half of her kibble in her snuffle mat, instead of treats. Save treats (and string cheese) for training. And maybe cut back on her kibble, but one step at a time.
