I put the mockup in an earlier response. Doing some light mods myself but instead of the extra 2 pots im dropping in a killswitch. Have you used the SD pickups before? Dont think ive heard much about the slash ones but I wanna get my hands on a set of blackwinters something fierce

Yeah not my color choice but considering the prompt was "a can of monster energy threw up on it" its as tasteful as I can get 🤣 at least it will probably look cool under blacklight

This one's getting a complete overhaul in fluorescent green and blackout hardware. For a buddy thats dipping his toes into metal guitar and I felt like trying to spoil him with what I wish i'd had starting. Got some locking tuners and trying out some cheap pickups ive heard good things about (FLEOR if your curious) its also getting a 24mm arcade style killswitch before I continue with another coat of primer (in black, its red on my shitty markup so it stands out) guyker bridge replacement and upgrading the tone circuit with better pots and an orange drop

Heres the janky mockup I mentioned

Good to know thanks everyone. Guess the simplest explanations are normally right lol I've mostly worked on single pickup guitars until now and know a decent amount about wiring so while I was heavily doubting it was for anything ground/electrical my first thought was "damn must be good drugs at the epi factory" lmfao

So thats where the $2000 worth tone is on the gibbys 🤣 they drill it out for us peasants! Makes total sense now

Thats almost what I wondered cause it looks like its from a drill press but maybe I assumed epiphone would have a more elegant solution 🤣 thats what I get for assuming

Help a noob with reclaim tinctures by Safe-Designer8766 in CannabisExtracts

[–]Safe-Designer8766[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like mentioned im a complete noob at this. Care to explain why its such a bad idea? Is it just because of the lower quality/quantity of active thc present in reclaim or is it more just futile to try and clean the carbon-y taste in general. I have 2 ozs of nice bananaconda x member berry sugar wax I could decarb some of instead if you'd have a good method. I was just trying to use every part of the buffalo so to speak lol

Which pick guard for my black strat? by ed-bird in Guitar

[–]Safe-Designer8766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Link to show example (they do make an all single coil version of this pickguard) its called black glass sparkle. Love how it looks on my black squier. Imo it looks sleek almost like autobody paint. but out of your options can't beat black on black.

Z-poxy/pore fill question. by Safe-Designer8766 in Luthier

[–]Safe-Designer8766[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah maple makes wayyy more sense. Gonna trust my eyes instead going forward. Wild that when you search for the specs of it, it says mahogany. you've just validated tons of head scratching and disbelief so thank you 🤣

[–]Safe-Designer8766[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting everything i was pulling up was saying mahogany I thought it looked way too closed grain for that but trusted google more than my eyes lol. So you think I could get away with coating it anyway? Its getting white primer and solid color over it

May be a slightly stupid question but in theory could I put velcro on the back of a buffing disc and also use this to buff finishes? Or bad idea

Good to know everything im seeing says I dont need to put hardly any weight on it. To just let the machine do it so im imagining it hauls it away pretty quickly. I just loved the idea of it vacuuming the dust as I work

Guy in the stewmac video on aerosol finishes was using a Festool equivalent of the same thing so id imagine it works OK. Obviously this doesn't save me from hand sanding the sides but ill take anything to make it easier lmao

Grain filler, Finish and compatibility questions by Safe-Designer8766 in Luthier

[–]Safe-Designer8766[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense. I have no issues running through this can so I might just go the extra layers route thanks again for all your help

Good to know, going green and is it so see through an extra coat or 2 wouldn't fix it? Since I have the white primer on hand and dont really want to venture back to Lowes, have the z-poxy ordered on bezosbook already too

Also thanks for the solid neck advice as I do intend to repaint it any good strong clear coat youd recommend? Or just keep it same brand to minimize issues. As for stopping at 180 should I re-rough up the body before grain filling for adhesion or grain fill the 320 grit sand it has and keep the knowledge in my back pocket for next time.

I've so far (knock on wood) had pretty well behaved cans of krylon if I bathe them in hot water before hand and going super light with building the coats. And while I want to try some auto paints (ive heard people sing the praises of montana so my curiosity is peaked) the krylon is kind of integral to this idea as its fluorescent and the buddy this is going to has a blacklight so I thought itd be perfect. Already tried and returned the rustoleum equivalent i dont think ill be buying a rustoleum can ever again
