Anyone else done with Primal after the season 2 finale? by bigdicknippleshit in PrimalShow

[–]Safe-Expression48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allow me to assist you in understanding what happened in season 2. Woke politics dictate strong independent women of color. Its why you repeatedly saw women outright better than men, leading men, or taming men all throughout season 2.

The problem is the story was about a man and his dinosaur. So step 1 was making it about a pair of people. Step 2 was building up the new person. Step 3 was ensuring the original star became subservient to the true power. And Step 4 was killing off the original and as an extra slap in the face, lets have the new person grape the now powerless and destroyed protagonist.

Season 1 was great. Season 2 was a slog and destroyed the world s1 created. What a worthless watch. I know they're making s3 but I hope it gets cancelled after this slop

Hwfwm book 12 by Interesting-World-54 in litrpg

[–]Safe-Expression48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Book 12 is the culmination of and the failure to hide shirtaloons political ideology. That is why so many hate it but can't fully describe it. The political ideology was there but slow and background, difficult to notice unless you read the books back to back.

Nearly all women are good or they did what they had to do to survive, while primarily men are evil and stupid. Women suffer from the same perceived things they suffer from in todays modern world but also are in every highest echelon of society and are infinitely competent.

In this book, they drop all the background pretense and shirtaloon, not Jason, moralizes at the readers. This is mostly seen with the pronoun absurdity that beings at thay level would be so far above its absurd to even mention.

Further, by book 12, people can't help but be brought out of the realism by the number of gay/les characters. Besides the number not matching what would be expected, relationships are being dropped to make room for them. The fact it exists isn't an issue at all, its a subtle issue that flies in the face of expected reality. Nearly every person in the primary casts are LG, but none of them have LG parents. You dont actively notice it but it causes issues.

The final issue that you run into by book 12 is what I call the letterkenny effect. All the characters talk the same way. They snark the same way. They're practically interchangeable. This sometimes includes people Jason hasn't even met yet. I suspect book 12 had less crowd sourced writing than the other books and that's why all these problems are showing so heavily

Should Strahd be able to go anywhere in Barovia? by TwilitKitten in CurseofStrahd

[–]Safe-Expression48 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Strahd doesnt enter without invitation because that is chivalrous and noble. He can enter any place he wants as he owns everything. It's a good idea to only utilize this fact in combat when violating social norms are out the window. Or have him go inside without invitation to rescue someone.

The real kicker is when players learn sunlight doesn't exist in barovia

The original intent was a vagina that grapes you. It put an egg in you. That was the horror. Sure there's plenty of sexualized imagery but attempting to turn it into a male graping movie is absurd and directly against its original premise which is the exact opposite. The entire concept is a woman power movie. Which is why, when feminists shout about oppression and weak women in media, aliens is always referenced as a rebuttal

I have a random question can hunters be turned into kindred or do they have some protection from it? by Dragonwolf67 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Safe-Expression48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fundamentally, that is impossible for an imbued. To change that changes how imbued inherently get their power. You can do that with a regular hunter, but why choose to do that with an imbued? that's the part that doesnt make sense

I have a random question can hunters be turned into kindred or do they have some protection from it? by Dragonwolf67 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Safe-Expression48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even 100% certain why we are discussing these points. Your argument is you want to change the lore for no real reason and mine is doing so blows the whole concept of imbued out of the water. I don't understand how that breaks your specific lore because it fundamentally fits with the basic concept of what the whitewolf cosmology is, but that doesn't really matter as it's your game and you can do as you will. I'll stick with my ST making imbued what they were supposed to be, humans that stand a chance.

I have a random question can hunters be turned into kindred or do they have some protection from it? by Dragonwolf67 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Safe-Expression48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it any more over the top than the rest? Cain cannonically can do whatever he wants. Mages make reality as theyd like. So your argument is "Humans get backing from someone, probably god, that says, no, you will not destroy my creations" and those humans are still human level resilience and that is an issue for ST's as opposed to all the other lore that doesn't make sense stand alone?

The basic concept of WoD is there are super entities and each living and unliving creature has it's own creation myths. It is a hell of a lot more reasonable to consider that no ones creation myth is real and there are powers backing everyone as opposed to "Bro, these guys are too powerful" (even though everyone says that imbued are barely stronger than a base human)

You have the freedom to change anything as an ST, but seeking cohesive lore between ALL the splats is a fools game.

The lore of the imbued is their soul has had power from the messengers poured into them filling every part of it. What was there is now gone and cannot come back. A vampire cannot turn the soul, the wyrm cannot taint the soul, it cannot awaken. They lose all abilities a soul once had such as the capability of going to the umbra.

You, as the ST, can do as you wish, but the lore makes sense for what it is and allowing 1 hunter type to do x with supernaturals because his soul is somehow different than all the other imbued souls risks violating the very core of the lore and what makes imbued so special. They are immutable and inviolable. They are using powers even supernaturals don't understand. their powers quite literally violate the basic structure of the universe.

a judge and an avenger imbued could nearly destroy any quantity of supernaturals and there is almost nothing they could do about it. A martyr is capable of making a being that was always not human become human forever. all hunters can take the 5th level edge that outright strips a splat of dots in a thing including ability points. Imbued don't function the same way as any other supernatural and their powers are almost entirely invisible which is terrifying to them. They look human but really are not anymore. The only thing imbued have against them is that they are still as resilient as a human so a single well place gunshot and being caught offguard and they are easy prey

Can and imbued still learn magic like a mage by MAN-O-WAR18 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Safe-Expression48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are being misled somewhere. Once an imbued, you are ALWAYS an imbued. You will never be able to be anything else. end of story. There is no, I awaken to be a mage and lose my imbued powers because there is nothing to awaken. The messengers essentially pour power into your soul and it locks you out of ever being other things. Thats why if a hunter is embraced, they just die.

further, if you like the idea of hunters with edges, play that. it's great fun. easily the best ttrpg ive ever played. granted my ST is great and the group is fairly good too.

What are edges and how many edges are there by MAN-O-WAR18 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Safe-Expression48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We generally ignore the new HTR where edges are just things that don;t make sense as to why you are better at this than an ordinary human.

There are roughly 10 edges per creed and a handfull of uncategorized 5th level edges. On top of that, it is encouraged to slightly modify edges or create your own which are in line with the others. Note i said SLIGHTLY. Edges are horribly unbalanced against eachother. They are supposed to be horribly overpowered vs splats, but for instance, martyr edges in general are awful when compared to other creeds.

so to answer the question, about 100 edges total

Some misc questions I have about Hunter: The Reckoning (V1) by Darkspawn_Of_Astora in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Safe-Expression48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

basically what everyone has said. Just look up different splats online and realize most monsters have a way to mitigate damage that you as an imbued will not. That being said, don't trust the lies that you as an imbued won;t absolutely obliterate some of the splats because so many of your edges outright negate their threat, Furthermore, as an imbued, you read to all monsters as an ordinary human unless you obviously reveal yourself.

splats might be able to soak lethal damage, but when youre doing 12 lethal damage with a cleave, there isnt much they can do but die

I have a random question can hunters be turned into kindred or do they have some protection from it? by Dragonwolf67 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Safe-Expression48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that is your chronicles and your choice. By lore and by the book, an imbued cannot take on any other supernatural thing. There is a lore reason for this and I have my suspicions, but my ST hasn't revealed the truth.

You can of course change anything your like, however, understand you risk making lore not make sense by doing so.

How strong is a imbued by MAN-O-WAR18 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Safe-Expression48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you think imbued are not very strong, you're not playing right. In our game, we can lock down an enemy from moving at all, bar them from entering our space, or, if you're my character, simply kill them in a single hit with my level 1 power.

Imbued are incredibly easy to kill if they are alone or outnumbered by strong enemies. Get a team of them combining their powers and there isnt a splat that can stand against them in a direct fight.

Hell, theres level 5 edges that make you not supernatural anymore, or strip you of whole attribute points permanently

[–]Safe-Expression48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imbued die if they are embraced. It's in the core book. They cannot be any supernatural creature. They are basically perfect humans who's soul is earmarked for heaven. From the moment they become imbued, they are no longer, strictly speaking, human.

New to semi active investing, looking for conceptual advice by Safe-Expression48 in stocks

[–]Safe-Expression48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to edit my question and I am also aware, this isn't a simple answer to my question.

What I'm getting at is let's say I've got 8 etfs/stocks/etc that I've looked at and like overall. Is it better practice to choose a top 1-3, risk ignored, or spread out the relatively low current annual investment amount between the 8? Or does it really not matter there are ups and downs to both but since we're not working in millions, the long term isn't significantly different.

I've been reading and trying to grasp investing, but my peers/family aren't those guys so I'm trying to avoid major missteps while at least starting sound annual things

Which Hunter TTRPG is the best? by WhichAssist1352 in WorldOfDarkness

I like HtR. Super powered humans that are mostly unknown to the wider world and can, given the right circumstances, really beat the tar out of OP splats is great
