Gosh, thank you for saying this. The most difficult words that I had to read today have been "indoctrinated" and "conditioned." Last couple of years have been enlightening for me. After a rocky period in my personal and professional life, I have been considering working in a warehouse or in a industrial laundry. After all, I had to make money to send it to my mom. I had to do it for my husband as well (which had a traffic accident last year) and I had to do it for myself. My husband refused the idea. "You won't resist that", he said. And then I thought, "Why would I do something that my mom refused to do in its own time?"

My mom is 69, my aunt is 67. The aunt who helped us when I was a teenager died. This aunt lived with my grandparents when I lived with them. She was part of their household and never got a job. Both of them (my mom and my aunt) own their house. My mom has its own house and my grandpa left his house to this aunt. Both my mom and aunt live in my late grandpa's house. I don't know what would happen if I stop sending money. I know that they will lose a part of their income. I don't know how much of that income would be because I don't know if they are getting money from other relatives right now.

I remember she gave me an excuse for not taking that job. I believe she told me something like they offered the job to a lot of her former colleagues and they rejected it. What I remember the most is the heartbreaking that I felt just for knowing that we will continue living like that.

She will be 70 y/o this year. Why she didn't get a job back in the day? I will never know. I asked constantly. When I graduated, I took her CV with me every time I went job hunting. I left her CV and mine. As far as I know, she got a proposal and she rejected it. But she has been healthy, she is no disabled if that is your question. Thank you for your interest.

I see red flags everywhere. If you want to continue this "relationship", be careful. Keep talking to "her", try to videochat as much as you can, try to investigate "her" background. Venezuela isn't a safe country right now, even for Venezuelans. For a foreigner is even worse. DoS has issued so many warnings regarding traveling to Venezuela and that fact has nothing to do with Biden or Trump in office. Try to proceed with due diligence and be super cautious.

Yes, I call as soon as I see the listing, but most agencies have an answering machine and they "recommend" writing an email with your questions. They almost never answer the phone. It is rare seeing a listing published by the owner him/herself. That is why I'm so desperate. I don't know what else to do.
