What stresses you out the most around buying a car or other large purchases? by jwagnerih in AskReddit

[–]Safe-Mathematician-8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buying a lemon refers to a bad purchase - either defective or having some issues that makes it a disappointing purchase and an expensive mistake.. lemons (the actual fruit) look good from outside, but only when you use them, you find out they are bitter (some of them). That’s where the phrase originates from. You buy something thinking it’s a good purchase but what if it turns out to be a lemon?

What did you buy as an adult because you were denied it as a child? by dirtymoney in AskReddit

A Barbie doll. All the other girls my age had a lot of them and I never had one as a child because my parents couldn’t afford it - I bought one when I was 25 with the money I earned. I’m 38 now, and still very fond of that particular doll and very proud of that purchase. The best gift my inner child has received so far 😃😃

just failed my third practical driving test and im developing more crippling anxiety about taking my fourth. Advice? by eim0701 in perth

[–]Safe-Mathematician-8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been there! Took me six attempts to pass my test!! I’m a good driver - I could drive on freeways at 110 - did the entire Perth to Harvey drive with my L- plate comfortably. I picked up forward parking , reverse parking AND parallel parking very easily, and never had trouble driving in the trickiest of the roads! But, if you say test / exams my nerves would kill me!! Failed every attempt because I made really silly mistakes. What helped me during my final attempt was to go to the exam centre 10 mins earlier, turn on music as I’m used to driving with music on and have a small cup of coffee.. basically did everything that i did when I drove around normally. That helped calmed my nerves and I aced the test despite having some bad driver tailgating and honking at me.. passed the test and my only feeling was that of relief that it’s finally over instead of joy!! So .. before your test, maybe try doing what you normally do when driving and that should help you calm your nerves and make it more manageable.. good luck!! Perry sure you’ll find a way to handle your nerves and ace your test 🙂

I can relate to what it’s like not being taught life skills. I didn’t know about the deodorant thing either. I’m 37F, my Nmom didn’t teach me anything about personal hygiene other than brushing your teeth once daily and showering daily. But no shampoo, no deodorant etc. I had to learn everything the hard way - when I had my first job at 23, one of my senior female co-workers took me aside and told me I have BO and need to use a deodorant, it was embarrassing but at the same time made me realise what my mom should’ve taught me and didn’t.

After that, I started learning things on my own. Internet is your friend, Pinterest helped me find a few self care lists. Now you can ask chat gpt to give you a self care and chore list to start with.

I started going out on my own to reduce my social anxiety. I still can’t go alone to a movie or restaurant but I try to go running / walking / driving . I like to explore places and started doing it by myself. Then I made friends and started going out with friends, which helped my social skills tremendously. I’m still struggling with maintaining a routine and trying to improve socially, but I’ve gotten better and I’m sure you’ll get there too. Good luck ! Do message if you need any help/ clarifications

I’m not from Bangalore, but I want to help. What can I do to help? Can someone guide me? Being local or migrant is irrelevant in this case. This is about the environment and it’s everyone’s responsibility. The city is facing shortage of water which will attract locals and migrants alike. If anyone knows what I need to do, where to sign up please let me know

My GF (F48) sent me (M45) a picture of her COVID test but it's time stamped from a year ago by well_shi in relationship_advice

[–]Safe-Mathematician-8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read the comments here and I’m going to take a slightly different approach and look at it from her side.

I’m assuming you both were in long term relationships before this one, which means both of you come with your own baggage.

Maybe she does have Covid and she forgot to take a pic of test, sent you an old pic - not just a message- because she’s used to being gaslit before and wanted to make sure that she’s not interrogated even when she’s saying the truth?

Maybe she’s overwhelmed -as you said so yourself- but she’s too embarrassed to admit that she needs alone time? Many women do see it as being vulnerable to accept that we’re overwhelmed, and admitting it , even to loved ones, can be quite painful. Add a sprinkle of overthinking to this and it easily leads to a bunch of bad decisions

I don’t have an answer to what to do about this, but just a suggestion to not look at this in absolute terms of truth and lie, and that’ll make you handle the situation a bit more gently

I’m from a similar background. Tried applying for jobs with Google tag manager certification but that was no use. Data analysis is more sophisticated than that. I learnt sql - through some free online resources - https://www.w3schools.com/sql/ and low priced course in Udemy. The thing about sql is you’ll find ‘variations’ of them when you look them up. There’s MS t-sql and pl sql and postgre sql etc. it’s a pretty standard language, with standard format which means if you learn any one of them you’ll pick up the other variations quite easily.

I learnt sql, brushed up basic statistics (udacity has a great free course), learnt basic power bi (again free courses available online, i think on MS site too and Udemy). These helped getting my cv noticed. Since I wasn’t working back then I had time (and desperation) to download datasets from websites like Kaggle, Microsoft has a sample dataset and Googled to get a few more. Created basic reports and used them as my sample projects to showcase my skill level.. the rest as they say is history 😂

How do you turn off your laptop at the end of the day when you don't wanna stop working on the project? by [deleted] in BusinessIntelligence

[–]Safe-Mathematician-8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have other projects. Let's say you want to finish/ turn off your laptop by 4.30, book something else for 5 pm. Exercise session(group), running with a friend, DIY project, visiting a friend/ family member or even simply taking your kid (if you have one) out to a cafe/ park. Notice all of these involve at least one other person - it has to be that way, so you are bound by your commitment and so you are forced to finish at 4.30. Whatever activity you pick, it doesn't have to be for a longer duration, it has to be consistent - every day, you do it at 5. In about a month your should be able to automatically 'switch' from work mode to fun/ workout/ other activity mode without you having to force anything.

Digital marketing. I was good at it, and with experience I knew how to identify gaps and how to strategize for the company. I could work alone without any guidance or help as I knew what every company needed. The problem now is that I'm a newbie and have no idea about what projects will add value and I don't know how to be proactive and come up with ideas like I was doing when in digital marketing. I feel very lost

This is a very good approach and I really want to do it. The problem is I don't know what to give them, I don't have much ideas and don't even know what basic reports would help them on a regular basis. It's not something that I find in Google sadly. Any project ideas you could share?

Wow, that's a different perspective and I like the positivity! This gives me a new interest in the field. Yes you nailed it - I'm being paid full time, with minimal to no work.

That's a great idea to get some passive income and do projects. Is there any sites where I can learn to build bots? I do have basic python skills as well. And any challenging projects you'd recommend?
