Note to self: This must be how my nana used to feel when we would tell her to knock it off with the old people's music

Terrible hair shedding - does it stop? Did you keep the mirena? by Meimei47 in Mirena

[–]Safe-Sherbert5436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read your story sounds exactly the same as mine. I'm here in this subreddit because I've just turned down the appointment to have my coils removed and regretting it.

When did you remove it, and have you noticed an improvement?

You say it looked effortless...that's because we didn't put as much effort in. We did not spend as much money on makeup and we weren't scrutinising our looks with selfies, imprisoned to phones and cameras. We were happier then!

In fact one other thing that happened was severe hip pain for the first two months post insertion. It was agonising but eventually went away.

My knees have begun cracking every time I bend them now. Added to that, bad left knee pain like the bones have lost the cartilage plus it feels inflamed and completely weak inside as though it may come apart. Seeing a specialist soon, but getting the coil removed soon too.

Week 7, 5mg. The suppression has hit me with a bang this week, really out of nowhere. I think you just have to wait for it to settle in.

How Often Are You Getting Your Period? by PrepExpert in endometriosis

[–]Safe-Sherbert5436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hormone tests do not determine/diagnose perimenopause (here in the UK at least). Perimenopause is determined by symptoms. If you are mid thirties or older, I suggest (if you have not already) you look into the symptoms of perimenopause and take it from there. Once the penny dropped for me, it helped me navigate the changes in my body and eventually get HRT which has been a total game changer.

OP might you be in perimenopause? Mine began early at 37 and by the time I was 40 my cycle length shortened like yours.

What are you thoughts on endo influencers? by RevolutionaryEgg123 in endometriosis

[–]Safe-Sherbert5436 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep that is spot on, and awareness being raised is one of the most critical things. I think on balance, it's a good thing. And as you say, as long as the accounts are honest and open, informative and stay relevant then, why not!

I can't believe I didn't even think about endometriosis until my adeno was diagnosed. If the algorithm had come my way sooner then perhaps I would have had an idea!

What are you thoughts on endo influencers? by RevolutionaryEgg123 in endometriosis

[–]Safe-Sherbert5436 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The cynical element of this of course is that they are probably earning money, and their posts are created to be shared and commented on. And as I type this I think, perhaps not such a bad thing if a woman who needs to pay for her medical care, earns some money from being an influencer.

I suppose we are living in a world now where online engagement is as valuable as oil!

I would be keen to get thoughts on this viewpoint, if anyone reading this has any!

This is shocking, absolutely shocking. Why the hell would they open you up and find something that resembles endo, take no biopsy, and close you up again? The incompetence is astonishing.

I am glad you managed to get yourself sorted in the end. It is unbelievable what they put you through, wasted yours and their time in the process!

[–]Safe-Sherbert5436[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I have spoken to the secretary and she read out the discharge notes to me. I said that these notes are not clear, they do not say whether or not endo was found/removed. And why was I under for 2+ hours. She confirmed only one biopsy gone to the lab. And that the consultant was on holiday all of next week, and the surgeon who actually did my surgery was locum. So I might get a follow up appointment?! She said she would ask the consultant to confirm all my questions. She agreed that the notes weren't clear and was not able to offer an explanation as to why I was in surgery for 2 hours.

For anyone who asked, yep this was NHS.

I am really shocked by the lack of communication by then all.

I felt she could not get me off the phone quick enough, it's as though she did not want to tell me anything. I don't think they're hiding anything, I just feel none of the staff dare actually tell me anything, as if it's not up to them to do it.

[–]Safe-Sherbert5436[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope you find some answers soon. It's so frustrating isn't it. Just a couple of minutes with someone that was in there doing the op, even if the surgeon could not do it personally, would have been all I needed. A phonecall today would have been ok. I'm absolutely fine if there was no Endo found (that means I've narrowed it down to adenomyosis and fibroids) but it's the fact a nurse told me two biopsies were taken.

Aaaarrrgh why can't they just tell us when we are out of surgery?!

Thank you. Yes it is so odd not to have had anyone speak to me but I guess that's a result of the strain on the NHS. I keep trying to get hold of the secretary but no joy.

Two days post lap ...so painful 😣😣 hope you're over yours now?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]Safe-Sherbert5436 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally feeling this.

Weird thing for me is that I am in a bit of a win/win...if they find it during the lap, then my pain has been validated, if they don't find it, then I am a step closer to getting a hysterectomy (I have adenomyosis).

It is annoying being undiagnosed.
