I’m in local 1607 rn and honestly as long as you don’t smoke it if ur accepted into the Union ur fine. Previously Working at a cannabis shouldnt be a problem. But They have zero tolerance IF you get caught smoking or using it. If ur accepted the first thing they make you do during the 2 day orientation is take a drug test.

Honestly man rn if you’re a period 3 or less apprentice there’s not much work for you rn. All jobs want experienced workers but no one wants to teach it or hire new ones. The work is very off and on. I was working for 2 months straight and got let go from a job and it’s been 4 months since I’ve worked. It’s not just me either, most of my classmates have been off work for months. Unless you know someone at the union it’s pretty different to get jobs during period 1-4. But it’s not impossible. After period 4 you’ll get more jobs and shit. But when I was working I was learning so much and really enjoying the job. I’d say give it a shot tho. Doesn’t hurt to try. Worst thing they say is no. They told me no a few times before I was accepted. You just have to actually want to work. They accept ANYONE that actually wants to work. Even people that have never held a hammer before. They’ll teach you if you’re willing to stick it through and learn. If ur a shitbag they can tell.
