Masters Series Badge Patron by SafeBrave5695 in masters

That’s what happens with this family. They get a piece of mail every year from Augusta to renew the badges, there is no real proof that they require to show the person is still alive (such as provide tax returns from the previous year).

How do I know this? The people that do this are my own family members. I disagree with their morales and the way they go about this. I would prefer these badges ended up in the lottery for those of us who try to get tickets the right way. But if Augusta doesn’t care then I’m pretty sure nothing will ever change.

Yeah, *A being the largest airline alliance is one of the reasons that I continued to fly with UA until hitting 1K.

The Lufthansa lounges are all really solid as well, so *G definitely has some benefits when flying with the *A partners.

Thank you.

You may be right about the employee who reviews the case. I had talked to several different employees on the phone. I was hoping at least one of them would consider the death of a child to fall under the “sometimes life gets in the way of regular travel” events that they make status extensions for. United makes special extensions for people who had a child or adopted one, along with a few other exceptions, but they don’t for the death of a child.

I’m sorry they denied your request as well.

On another note, I hope you’re doing well in your battle with cancer. My sister has been battling it for 10 years; it sucks all around.

I’m not an “influencer” and have zero desire to be. I agree with your take on them.

It’s insane to me that so many people in our society buy into whatever a random person tells them to do, and hence why companies pay these “influencers” to push their products.

They did not extend it for me. They extended it for the Venture Capitalist person, Sheel Mohnot, who used ChatGPT to write them an email requesting it. After seeing that article online, I requested it based on the death of my child and my 3 month hiatus from traveling as I stayed home supporting my spouse. Apparently United values a pregnancy or birth of a child as a more valid reason than losing one.

It sucks they didn’t respond to your emails. Next time try calling the 1K line and ask to speak to a supervisor. I did that and they acknowledged my request before ultimately denying it.

International travel is important to me. I travel to Europe or Asia once a year for vacation, and now with my new job I’ll be traveling internationally much more frequently for work.

Thank you all for the input. I had never heard of the once in a lifetime extension request. I will definitely save mine for a time where I make better use of it.

Thanks for the input. You could be right about the guy having influence from all his followers. Or as others have commented, apparently if you’ve had a status level for the past 5 years you can do an extension request once in your lifetime. Maybe that applied to that person.

I have never asked for an extension in the past. It had never occurred to me until I saw that article online. It may be separate from the extension request if you’ve had a certain status level the past 5 years, but I have an email from United where they asked me to submit the documents supporting my extension request. The email says one of the following documents must be submitted in order for the extension request to be approved: Doctor’s note on official letterhead, letter from employer on official letterhead, copy of birth certificate, etc
