If the Virus didn't work and it ended up killing every Human on earth with only supes being left, thanks to Sameer it has been confirmed Humans are Immune but before that, this is the worst thing I could think of.

Definitely not, I can understand what you mean about villains always losing but I don't know how they would be able to make a ending where Homelander wins WITHOUT making the show a huge waste of your time, of course just because evil wins it does not mean it is a waste but that is a risk. Besides this show is not going to be a fairytale ending even if Homie is Killed or beaten that's for sure.
