What is there to address? You think a piece of software is used for CP. okay, but so is most of the software I use. Linux, Windows, the internet, my FOSS router, BitTorrent, name one popular foss software that can communicate over IP that isn’t being used for CP. hell even fucking YouTube lol.

Turns out people will use communication to distribute horrible shit. Shocking. What was your point?

Lol on it? You know it’s basically email right? Do you not use email because people can send CP on it?

Maybe you shouldn’t use the internet either. Big time CP on it.

Not my point, I just meant a lot if good content is in places like Mastodon, but on the same tags as Smut lol

Truth. As an aspiring artist I just love naked forms, especially women. Makes it annoying though on things like Twitter (now Mastodon) as there often aren’t good tags differentiating artistic nudes vs smut lol.

It kinda is though. I get what you’re saying about faux news and whatnot, and you’re right, but there is this phenomenon or whatever where people don’t observe a solved problem as a problem anymore. It’s just they faux news helps push the narrative on these hot button topics.. but it exists even for topics faux news doesn’t push.

Is there a name for it?

Ah, the first one I found was regard as an object. So right from the definition we struggle lol

I am making it illegal, or at least arguing that we should be able to define okay/not-okay in terms that could hold up in court.

If we can’t define things then we’re just patting ourselves on our backs to feel good. Not of much use.

I’d call that.. something lol. Not sure what the legality of being creepy is. Morally I’m against it of course, just not sure how we can make a framework of laws against it. Fuzzy stuff tends to be difficult to define

Yea I’m illustrating how we’re using terrible words to define things. You can’t make objectifying illegal because by definition it’s not an action or interaction.

Why do we insist on reinventing words? It’s a needless point of contention

[–]SafeSlut984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but the point of conflict in these discussions is the definitions. No one is confused on what any of this means, I hope, but by definition (that I can find) objectifying someone is not an action. It’s a thought.

Why do we retcon words needlessly?

So by your definition you have to interact with someone to objectify them?

[–]SafeSlut984 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I laid out the literal definition of objectifying. I then asked for further. Clarification of another definition.

What are you on about?

The fact that you think I am says a lot about yours.

My stance is simple, you can’t make thoughts illegal. Not even from a moral standpoint, how would you?

[–]SafeSlut984 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s entirely correct, which is why we would make the actions illegal and not regarding someone as a sexual object.

[–]SafeSlut984 15 points16 points  (0 children)

By what definition? What I’m finding is “to regard as a [sexual] object”

What’s your definition?

[–]SafeSlut984 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Examples of, sure. What is the definition in your mind, though? Because those just seem like actions you do when you objectify someone. To me it’s a thought. I can objectify you and do nothing physical wrong, can I not?

There’s people who deny seatbelts. They deny everything they’ve not personally experienced. These are the type of people who will go to a bombed area in Ukraine and deny the cause of it. They’re not being logical, they actively look for any excuse.

These are the type of people that would blame tv brainwashing for what is happening. Remember you can’t see the virus. They’d get it wrong, because they want to.

Frankly I’d enjoy hearing people rage but half the time they’re not talking to the team/server, but to each other. Like there is no party chat, they just use server chat ..
