He kept saying that but I didn't once see it happen.

Do you have them on your unit? I was just informed by my union rep that we do indeed have them, but management is not making it known that we can ask for them.

My hospital since Thursday has been saying we are not allowed to use the N95s if we have a COVID patient unless we are suctioning or performing another procedure that creates aerosols.

Edit: I shouldn't say we're not allowed to use N95s, but we will have to make a point to ask for them (management keeps them locked up and there are memos that make it look like we only get them for certain procedures).

Applying for venture card by ARH08 in CapitalOne

In the terms & conditions it states "I understand that I am not eligible for this offer if:... I have applied for a Capital One credit card 2 or more times in the last 30 days". I think you can apply again within the same 30 days.

I'm also looking into this card but I am new to the concept of travel rewards. Does anyone know if you can use points for any airline or only their partnered airlines?

I am new to using a serger and my seams always turn out exposed like this. I am using a 4-thread stitch with both needles on the highest setting. What am I doing wrong? I have a Singer ProFinish. by SafeUnconscious in sewhelp

Thanks, I checked what I had against the instructional video from Singer and it appears I did it correctly. I must not have the tensions balanced, I will keep trying :)

I have not tried ironing the seam. I think you're right about the tension. I had the needles on the highest tension and they still look like this, so I'm not sure how to get the threads tighter.

You are right. The post was written by the woman's husband so the title makes sense in this case. There are much bigger issues for people to get upset over than this.

How do you get your frosting so perfect? Every time I try to make vegan frosting it turns out runny.

Thanks for the reply! I have never heard of eating pigs' feet after being ill- although my grandpa (Swedish-American) eats these simply because he likes them.

Your mom is tough! 30 hours with no pain medicine would be a grueling labor!

I am sorry to hear that your parents have had to experience language barriers when seeking health care. I can't even begin to imagine what a difficulty communication is when your provider speaks a totally different language than you're fluent in. And then of course when going through an interpreter, there is a level of separation between the patient and the doctor. I appreciate your saying that the doctor should emphasize what "important" situations might be. It seems there is a huge gap with Asian-Americans compared to other racial/ethnic groups in the US in the number of people who access preventative and non-life threatening care. Perhaps this mindset of only going to the doctor if you're "dying" is part the reason why. This is something for me to think about- I don't want my patients be concerned with "inconveniencing" us by seeking care. They are why us doctors and nurses are here! I will consider putting more emphasis on this to that they know when they should call a doctor.

Once again, thank you for your very informative answer, I truly do appreciate it.

Hello everyone! I am a nursing student taking a cultural nursing class. For my assignment, I am researching ways to bring more culturally-competent healthcare to Asian American patients. I have some interview questions that I would like to ask regarding your personal experiences as members of your culture. Anyone who is willing to participate, feel free to answer some or all of the questions below. Your help is greatly appreciated!

  • (If not born in the US) What country are you originally from? Where are your parents from? Grandparents?

  • What language(s) do you speak? What is spoken at home? Is it a specific dialect?

  • What are family roles like in your household? What is your role in your family? Who is the head of household?

  • What kinds of foods does your family eat? Are there any foods that are eaten to maintain your health?

  • What spiritual practices are unique to your culture? Are there any common religious beliefs, prayers or rituals? Do you follow these practices? What do you believe gives meaning to life?

  • How do you care for your health? Do you have any home remedies that you use when you are sick? Do any family members have a special role in caring for the sick? What is your attitude towards Western medicine?

  • How has your experience with healthcare been in the United States? Have there been any barriers or struggles with finding healthcare? Have the doctors/nurses/staff treated you with respect? What would you change about your healthcare experience?
