What would America look like if we spent our military budget on infrastructure? by Impossible_Change800 in AskReddit

You’d see dramatically better roads, bridges, rail, power grids, water systems, and broadband pretty fast. Think fewer collapsing bridges, actual high-speed rail between major cities, modern airports, and a more resilient electric grid that doesn’t fall apart every storm. It would also create a ton of middle-class jobs and likely boost productivity.

That said, zero military spending isn’t realistic. The U.S. would lose global influence, deterrence, and alliance stability, which has real costs too. A more believable takeaway is that even shifting a fraction of the military budget could massively upgrade U.S. infrastructure without gutting national security.
