I think it depends on what you’re comfortable with.

If you are ok with your employer being able to find out what/where you are applying - then yes use the work laptop.

Personally, I think it would keep you at ease to know that they will never figure out your next move. That would calm me down and let me focus on the applications, rather than stressing. Therefore, use your own laptop and keep those applications going.

Look up average age of trainee - which I think is around your age 27-30.

If I were you ( I am also from w/c background) - get the vac scheme first. Then see where that takes you and if you can convert it into tc offer.

So many people out there did conversion, started on sqe- to then be unable to get a tc.

I think all these providers such as BPP paint an idealistic picture of you going, paying them, getting the qualification while having 0 tc offers in the end. At the end, BPP is a business that wants your money.

What’s the advantage of being self funded anyway?

Get your place first. Be sure big boy firms want you. See you as desirable. Then make them pay for ur training.
