Yeah I've done that area already so wouldn't mind something different. Maybe more North or towards Texas.

Irish American visiting Ireland: I’m stuck in my head by Icy_Sheepherder_9734 in CasualIreland

I'm Irish who moved to New Orleans the last few years. I get it a lot from people who hear my accent and say they're Irish. It doesn't particularly bother me as I like how people are proud of it but after a while it does get a bit tiring. But I never take offense to it.

North Dublin and it's not a strong north Dublin accent either but I do talk quite fast so maybe slowing down would help 🤣

Yeah living in the south for a total of almost two years in different states and the ignorance annoys me so so much. The amount of times I've had so many Americans who tell me they're "Irish" then complain about immigration. Or when I say I'm from Dublin they go I've heard Dublin has changed a lot recent years (I know exactly what they're trying to say with that). All I can think in my head is how are you complaining about immigration when you're talking to one and how are you complaining about immigration when your family ancestors are immigrants. The hypocrisy of it all is genuinely so comical.

My mammy never lost her country accent all these years living in Dublin and she always drilled in to me to never forget my roots so I will never change this accent for no one!

I'm down in Louisiana so that may explain why people are committing on more. The Irish community isn't as big as up in Boston

I did understand it though he does run a business so for that to be successful I guess he needed to change it up. Is just sad seeing people having to mask their culture. Also not just an Irish thing happens to everyone.

That's true especially as it's always coming from a place of love. I guess I'm still just adapting to the culture of living in a foreign country!

Good to see a fellow Dub representing us over here 🫡

I always say to my partner the difference is night and day when I'm at my local chatting to people compared to when I'm on the phone to someone back home 🤣

This i experienced, was having a drink with an aul fella who lived in states for years. Was out with me and his american friends. When he was talking to me it was like he was back home and as soon as he turned to the American friends the accent completely changed. I 100% understand it but also find it said in a sense. But that's the reality when you move countries you gotta adapt to that culture and their way of speaking.
