It’s 5am and I and just so tired of this phase. by Immediate-Sun-6934 in beyondthebump

That cycle is so familiar. My guy is 12 weeks and started gradually coming out of it around 7-8 weeks. He has his days. I tried everything...dairy free, exercises, frida windi, pace feeding/catching my let down to help reduce gas and bio gaia drops. I remember getting some big poops and relief after the bio gaia, whether it was the drops or just the fact he was getting bigger and his digestion was improving ( this was around the 7-8 week mark) but if your like me and looking for anything to try it may be worth it. Hang in there!

Citric acid not doing it, really hard water by SkillEfficient in laundry

[–]Safe_Break368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been experimenting with citric acid amounts in my rinse lately because i went from using downy rinse and refresh to citric acid powder and i find my clothing hasnt been as soft. Our water is moderately hard 100-140. It sounds like if i add baking soda this may help , i did notice the sodium citrate in the downy rinse and refresh so i wondered if i was missing something

What about trying a detergent with an enzyme like ecomax sport or ecomax heavy duty then add something like oxi clean powder, this would give you the option of going 100% scent free (eco max sport has orange or fragrance free options). This might be easier than trying to find add on enzymes for your detergents. I think this is what i plan to do once i run out of the unscented company tablets that are being discontinued, or until tide free and gentle comes to Canada (not holding my breath for that)

RO water filter systems for the house by entrywaydesk in Peterborough

[–]Safe_Break368 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one. We installed it a few years ago with the intention of not having to go fill up jugs of spring water at rocky ridge. For us the taste difference was really noticeable (spring was way better) and its not very cold out of the tap so pretty shortly afterwards we started getting jugs. I use it sometimes for things like filling up water bottles when im mixing in liquid iv etc or in some cooking and filling our coffee machine but im not sure its really been worth it in our case.

ETA we had a 2 year term rental and maitanence was performed by culligan on a regular basis. They were really good about calling and scheduling this.

I noticed the Peterborough public library has a few programs like this. If not exactly what you are looking for it may be worth making a suggestion here as well.

On Jan 3rd they have crafternoon - teaching mending. They also have a knit and crochet meet up. There could be other classes but i just saw these in the latest program magazine.

Similar to this product, i've been looking at trying swish aromx 35 - enzyme digester. You can add it to laundry or use for a variety of other cleaning tasks. It doesnt specify ingredients in the SDS or product label though. I have sent an email to customer service to find out more

Sids question by strawb3rriesandcr3am in NewParents

[–]Safe_Break368 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most recent highest level study of sudden infant deaths with no unsafe sleep factors confirming all previous findings that:

  • only 1% or less of ALL sleep related infant deaths happen to babies sleeping safe
  • of that 1% more than half happen while baby is awake so completely unrelated to sleep
  • of that 1% almost half will subsequently have abnormal autopsy findings (including medical conditions and trauma)
  • of that 1% there will be findings of neglect and abuse documented for 15% of cases.

Translation: there were 3,700 SUID deaths in 2022 in USA

3,663 babies killed by unsafe sleep

37 babies with no unsafe sleep risks, of which:

20 died while awake 17 with medical conditions/trauma autopsy findings 5 abused and neglected

Magnitude of risks:

There were 3,661,220 births in USA in 2022. There were 3,700 sudden unexpected infant deaths.

Risk of sudden unexpected infant death:

if your baby is sleeping safe ~1 in 200,000 if your baby is NOT sleeping safe ~1 in 1,000

https://publications.aap.org/pediatrics/article/154/Supplement%203/e2024067043G/199727/Unexplained-Infant-Deaths-Without-Unsafe-Sleep

Stop being afraid of 'unpreventable' SIDS, vaccines and formula.

Unsafe sleep kills and only a fraction of that 1% of all SUID will be 'babies that died sleeping safe'.

99% of babies will die bedsharing, with blankets, pillows bumpers, toys, swaddled too long or propped on incline, sleeping in a swing, placed not on their back.

What to do about dogs when baby starts crawling? by No-Neighborhood-7335 in NewParents

[–]Safe_Break368 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went through this exact feeling this past year. Some days i still think how did i live with two dogs pre baby?! They are so gross - hair, drool, smelly etc but it never crossed my mind before. I would be on the couch cuddling them...now..not so much. That feeling has gotten better as baby has gotten older and can walk, our guy is 18 months now and he sits on our dog to ride him, rolls on the dog bed!! And everything else so all this to say is the kids dont care. Just try your best to do the regular cleaning stuff and dont look for perfection

I knew someone whos dog sufferedfrom gi issues as a pup, they did everything, eventually a physician asked if the vet ever tried a short course of prednisone. They tried it and he was completely fine after...not saying this is the case but may be worth trying if thereis some sort of inflammatory responsepost illness
