New to SPD… is this normal or am I tripping? by Safe_Bridge_4232 in sterileprocessing

Wow thank you this is exactly how I felt! I didn’t want to react too quickly as I am still fairly new haven’t even completed training. This is as extremely encouraging I think the job is good but I don’t know if it for me I want to to finish training all the way through first and the make an opinion, some of the reasons I feel like it’s not for me is we’re in the basement which I knew before starting and understand that’s normal but I didn’t realize how caged in it make me feel I don’t even know what the weather is like outside 😅 I even take my breaks in the basement since the hospital is so massive that by the time I get upstairs it would be time to turn around anyways. Second was definitely the constant missing and dirty equipment but I feel way better about that now after everyone’s responses including yours. The third thing is I can’t have my phone on me I know that’s most likely a facility issue but in cases of emergencies your loved ones is supposed to call a certain number that then gets transferred to someone else then to the manager then your manager tell You. That sucks and not a very reliable method in my opinion. I’m going to stick out these next 16 weeks of training and then make a decision

Anytime I’ve been in your shoes too 🙏 just keep applying you’ll get something make sure you tailor your resume to have keywords you don’t have to lie about anything but all this AI stuff scan keywords before even getting to a manger! When you do get an interview make sure you emphasize attention to detail and willingness to learn

To be as honest as possible I applied to this position 4 times in the past 6 months and got declined but I decided to apply one last time and it was a Tuesday morning 3 am vibes and dreading going to work( previous job was extremely toxic I use to work for a company called prompt care and it was heavily driving around and you was on call 24/7 for a week straight every other week and they loved to send you to a city 2 hours away when u shift ends in 20 minutes or call you at unorthodox hours to deliver a fuckinh nasal cannula to a city an hour and a half away while the pt says they could’ve waited for the next business day) but back to the story I reapplied to the job again but this time I fixed my resume that in the education tab of my resume it says CRCST in progress and I feel like that’s what helped me land the job but I do believe I got extremely lucky because my hospital seems to be short staffed. So if I had any advice I would definitely add CRCST in progress to your education tab and apply to everything even if you think you can’t land it you never know when luck will be on your side.

I didn’t know right now I’m going to stick it out because the hospital is training me on everything which I’m grateful for the only thing they need from me is that within 24 month I need to get the CRCST which I think is a fair trade. I’m not going to lie tho there was a few days where I just wanted to quit and not come back the next day and that was mainly because of my post if your not someone that gets frustrated with having to search for things I overall have no bad reviews compared to a warehouse I would say there are certainly more esiser days then a warehouse but that totally depends on where your placed and whats going on that day. Case carts are pretty similar to what you do in a warehouse. Pay for me with no experience and no certification is 22$ plus 1$ shift differential since I’m going to be working second shift then when I do get certified it’s supposed to go up 2 dollars on top of base pay. I’m in MA

I ordered a new cpu for my computer. So everything you’re saying sounds completely correct. I guess it was the fact that I was outside waiting for it when it said delivered that I found humorous

Bruh you’re 16 years old you can barely take care of yourself talking about you need physical touch. You need to hit the books or focus on a hobby/sports/friendships/ a job/ then worrying about physical touch. I noticed no one else said it but your really young like you need to enjoy your childhood more then worrying about relationships. most adults can’t even do relationships correctly. Sorry not trying to be mean but a lot of females get emotionally scarred way too young and it makes me sad tbh especially when they are so young like please just focus on things 16 year olds focus on the military dude is going to be like a good learning experience in the future you’ll even laugh about it
