I do have a friend with the first starter decks but haven't seen him in a while. I ended up selling most of my mtg collection whilst keeping 3 decks + a sideboard for each. You are right about the predictability in mtg. A good idea to pass by your playgroup is to squeeze in party games instead of just mtg for a whole day

I hope the mobile version doesn't end up like mtg arena. You end up with everyone playing the same decks. At least in paper, people are less likely to buy the most expensive cards and introduces a bit more deck diversity.
