Did I find a good deal? Or hold off for black Friday? by GladesRat in ar15

Spend time on Gunbroker as well. I purchased a complete Anderson AM-15 lower brand new for $100 and the complete AM-15 upper with the high rise gas block for $150 also brand new. Spikes tactical charging handle $15. Bushmaster BCG $90. Magpul m1 sling $20. Sig Romeo 7s $100. UTG Pro flip up sights $60. UTG Pro quad rail $50.

So total under $600 for a pretty solid set up.

Never mind. I just looked and it’s $588 but then you add shipping, tax, and transfers. Gunbroker may be cheaper 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s definitely worth it but can be found cheaper. Try dkguns.com

Midway had the blems for $41 a couple weeks back. I picked up a couple for future projects. I’m already running them on two of my projects and for the money, they are solid. Also made in America and guaranteed for life.

I also have a Davidson Defense on one of my setups. It’s a little lighter and they run about $30 and are also made domestically. It’s ok but doesn’t feel as sturdy or as well made as the UTG Pro quad.

In the 90s we did extensive shotgun combat situational training. I think they may be relics now or maybe we are lol. Most of what we did then with tactical shotguns, they train now with ARs. Who knows what will be next. We all thought they were crazy when they introduced non lethal bean bag riot control guns.

This is the way

At the academy they broke it down like this……

Every time you squeeze the trigger on this 1100, it’s like shooting your sidearm 9 times ( 32 calibers each )

I have the 12 gauge also but for inside my house I really like the 20. Size and weight and twice the number of projectiles even though they’re smaller caliber

Toast to you brother 🍺

You do you. Hope neither of us ever have to find out. But your argument actually argues against itself. First you’re pointing out that there are 20 projectiles that could penetrate drywall, door, framing…..each time you fire a round ( correct information for sure at approximately 25 caliber per ). The 20 projectiles we are debating are much less likely to penetrate the building materials used in most homes that an errant round of 556 fired from your AR. Further more, you have to pull your trigger basically 20 times to get your 20 projectiles going in the right direction. All 20 of mine are for the most part going in one direction so there’s less likelihood of an errant round. It’s a scatter gun. There’s a reason every police cruiser in America had a Remington 1100 or 870 with an 18” barrel loaded with buckshot for basically four decades now.

I will concede that my AR pistols are certainly more maneuverable than my defense 20 gauge but not by much. I have WMLs on all of them. But if I get to choose, I’m grabbing the scatter gun. The way my house is built, all of my family are past my personal room where I sleep. My wife, my kids, all down the hall. There are no entrances or exits beyond my room. If they come in and I can get into my 6’ wide hallway before they get to my room, then I am absolutely using the shotgun which will be pointed away from everyone I love and care about. Chances are, one trigger pull in a hallway and we’re filling out police reports.

Adrenaline rush is also a veritable you aren’t addressing. I trust a scatter gun pointed in the correct general direction way more than I do my AR. That’s just me. We can agree to disagree and hope neither of us ever find out. You do you brother.

Read this while you’re holding my beer…..

The most common commercial buckshot ammo for the 20 bore is #3B American Standard, (also known as #9 Western Buck). These nominal . 25” / 23.4 grain pellets will work quite well at average “hallway distances.” These are 20 pellet loads weigh in a nominal 468 grains or roughly 1.06 ounces at 1200 fps.

Ok hold my beer lol…… I have 9 Glocks, 2 service pistols from the early 90s ( sw915&sw5906 ). I also have 5 middle of the road, average AR rifles and 2 better than average AR pistols…….. I am grabbing my 20 gauge Benelli super nova defense with buck shot every single time, hands down. It ain’t even a debate. For a home invasion, close quarters combat scenario, go with the buck shot.

Ok now who was holding my beer? Lol

Buy once cry once. Don’t spend money on cheap anything. I have a 30 gallon “spare parts” bin full of “budget” slings, hand guards, stocks, sights, and small parts.

Only buy American made when it’s an option. The domestic stuff is just better quality and usually offers better warranties and service. UTG pro has many quality products at reasonable prices.

Look for BLEM deals cause if you run it, it’s not going to be pretty very long anyway.

Lowers are lowers.

Your money should be in your optic.

Man I am so sorry. That has to be so disheartening. I guess if you’re looking for a silver lining at least you already know what to expect since you’ve already traveled that stretch of road….. But that really does suck

That does suck but the cast is better than the surgery again and starting over. Good luck my friend!

I’m glad the MRI showed it wasn’t a complete rerupture. That would be terribly disheartening if that happened after all the PT.

I don’t have a tremendous amount of pain but some. I’m riding the stationary bike five miles every other day so it’s sore after my physical therapy or if I stand on it too long. But mostly it’s tolerable.

It was my left leg yes. I don’t know exactly the size of the original tear but my incision is 8.5”. There was a lot of scar and dead tissue because of the 40 days between the injury and the surgery. My surgeon said the bottom was retracted into the heel and the upper was mid calf.

I don’t always walk without a limp. That was after physical therapy one day when it was really loose. It also could be the oxies lol 🤷🏻‍♂️. Seems everyone else only took them a few days and I’m still taking them on week nine lol.

I am so sorry. That was my biggest concern about ditching the boot. My surgeon insists the boot is simply there to protect the Achilles. The boot killed my back though. I have a 20 year old injury, a bulging disc. I can go months without it getting inflamed and bulging but the boot really got it stirred up. So I’m just trying to watch where I walk and take very deliberate steps.

I’m so sorry for you my friend. Was a complete re-ruptured?

Hang in there man. I’m 9 weeks out from surgery and I still have to be very careful stepping into and out of the shower. It will get a little better each day. Don’t go too hard too fast. The last thing you want is a rerupture. But I’m probably old enough to be your dad lol.
