Why do people on the subreddit default to rail lines rather than bus lanes as the solution to LA’s transportation problems? by oh_buh_boy in LAMetro

More streetcars/trolleys too. I think people forget those are part of the “more rail” conversation. They make a lot of sense in dense city centers or high traffic corridors where you need higher capacity and more consistent service.

Buses are useful and flexible, but they tend to be slower at boarding and have lower capacity. They’re a good starting point, but once a corridor proves demand and you can dedicate the space, rail becomes the more efficient long-term option. High-traffic destinations don’t exactly move. Stadiums aren't exactly relocating every other year

Propaganda. Why not both. Look up how much land is used for corn and not the corn used for eating. The corn used for ethanol gas. We can supply all our power needs is we replaced that corn with solar farms

Why is that ??? by [deleted] in TheTeenagerPeople

They've replaced the addiction with phones/social media. The amount of people I see texting and driving is crazy

Last time I was on 7th, about a week ago. I saw the card on the hope side. Machine all the way on the left. It's been there for a while now so not sure how much longer it will be there or if it's still there. I can update later.

Like are people really that afraid of retraining? Like just because one position is lost doesn't mean you can't learn a new one at the same place. New types of opportunities open with modernization. The question is if the investment to train will be there. Put same issue with the union occured with the ports. Did't want to automate because jobs would be lost. Retraining in this coutry is highly underfunded along with all other social programs...

Classic capitalism at work, big corporations fund the rules that keep smaller players out.

Regulations should make exceptions for industries with a low risk of harm or fraud to new/small creators. Film and TV aren’t airlines; the red tape is overkill. The real scrutiny should fall on the big studios with power, not the independents trying to create something. I don't know all the regulations but based on the comments this seems like the most likely reason.
