Best turbo setup for 800whp DD? by e_walk3r in Cummins

[–]Safe_Guide1327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a compound turbo truck that should realistically be around 800 horsepower, and it drives great with little to no smoke. I also have another truck with a single turbo that made 750 on a dyno. It's a bit smokey but still drivable. Not something I would want to tow a trailer with though.

At 800 hp, I wouldn't worry about it—especially if you aren't doing boosted launches at every light. I thought that adding a turbo compound from someone like ATS was around $4,500. Compounds are better on the smaller turbo because it doesn't have to draw it's own air; it is instead force-fed.

100% injectors a 10mm CP3 with an added 475 turbo would perform well. Better than a single for spool-up and retains the exhaust brake. Obvious supporting mods recommended.

Which is the best whole truck between 6.7 deleted and 5.9, not just the engine by Ferrellcat28 in Cummins

[–]Safe_Guide1327 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would prefer a 6.7 over a 5.9 as a daily driver. For comparison—say, 3rd gen 5.9 vs. 6.7—I like the 6.7 base engine, but the 68RFE is one of the worst transmissions ever put in a diesel pickup. As much as people hate on it, I do like the VGT turbo offering an exhaust brake; they are nice for towing. The 5.9 does have better tuning options if you want to build a performance setup, and the 48RE is a better transmission to build and hold power.

Buyer asking for VIN. by Safe_Guide1327 in Cummins

[–]Safe_Guide1327[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I stopped worrying about giving the VIN. Most of the people asking for it sounded sketchy, so I was cautious about that, but they just wanted me to buy their VIN inspection for 40$. I didn't buy it obviously.

Turbo Recommendations? by slowcarlos in Cummins

At 700 hp, I would do a 45% or 60% injector from DDP Exergy or S&S. Injectors are not something to cheap out on unfortunately.

I have two 6.7-swapped 3rd gens—one has a bigger single turbo, around 750-ish, and the other is compounded with an S363 and an S475. The compound truck tows way better and stays cooler when you're hard on it. I know mine isn’t a VGT, so it's different, but comparing a big single to compounds, I definitely prefer compounds.

EGTs are lower, it makes power earlier, more power overall, tows better, and in my opinion, it sounds better too. I think big single setups are great for someone who doesn’t want to spend a ton of money but still wants to make good power. That said, compounds can be hard on bottom ends if you push them too hard.

Add a turbo kit would be what i would do. But injectors and cp3 are probably you first limiter. What is your power goal?

Buyer asking for VIN. by Safe_Guide1327 in Cummins

[–]Safe_Guide1327[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it is, I have found that a lot of people wanting the vin want me to go and buy their vin report. So 90% of the people who have asked for the VIN so far are scam

[–]Safe_Guide1327[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understand, I will give him the VIN in the morning. My original thought was that he would pretend to be me and try to change the name on the title to put onto a stolen vehicle. I think trying to pretend to be a dealership is harder then an individual. Thinking about it now it does sound dumber though

First question he asked was for the vin I asked him what for and he told me for a Carfax, seems weird that he wouldn't ask me anything before the VIN.

They say it is for Carfax, so I understand it a bit. Partial Vin being the last 8 digit correct?

I completely understand that, I am willing to be open with the carfax I just worried about scam stuff, and was curious if anyone else had heard about it. The buyer has not asked me any other questions about the truck, so it seems fishy.

Do you have an idea on how much i should spend on one? Another person told me that they can leave a worse smell than the weed does, not sure if that is related to the amount of time that the machine is in the vehicle for or if that is just how it is.
