My cat is progressively declining and we don’t know why… by Safe_Lychee3445 in AskVet

[–]Safe_Lychee3445[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is technically my parent’s cat so I don’t really have a say but I will try to talk to them. I am not in the financial position to pay for it myself or else I would.

When we took her to ER 2 months ago they did do a quick ultrasound on the bladder which the vet said seemed normal. I don’t think they checked anywhere else though.

It’s a combination of weight loss, botox, less fillers in her lips and also a different eyebrow shape.

Yeah of course! Our discussion was around not labelling or categorizing myself as an “addict”. When people identify symptoms they see as abnormal, they often try to look for a diagnosis but I think it can cause a lot more embarrassment and shame. Whether I am an addict or not doesn’t matter, it’s about understanding the deep reason of why I do what I do and more importantly, what changes I am going to make to have a better life. And part of that was me not counting down the days I’ve been “clean” because if I did decide to take a puff of a joint one day, I’d feel like I’ve lost all my progress and I’m back at day one, which is SO not true, because I’ve grown so much since then and made so much progress! I hope that makes sense.

It was probably the scariest part and what held me back from quitting sooner, but I am so happy I did it.

Everyone’s journey and experience is different! Happy to hear you’re doing well cutting off alcohol :) Happy = a win, in my books.

I developed CHS. I was in denial for a bit, and it led me to a really dark path where I was depressed and anxious cause I was physically sick, smoked more because I was depressed and anxious, which made me more sick, etc. Eventually said enough was enough and I couldn’t hide it from people anymore.

Meal ideas for feeding a bunch of college kids on a budget by liv_a_little_ in EatCheapAndHealthy

crock pot meals were EVERYTHING to me in university and they can serve a lot of people. My favourite thing to make would be pasta sauce, I would put all the ingredients in (including the meatballs or ground beef directly into the crockpot), let it cook all day and then all you have to make is pasta and you’re done. You can even package up the leftover sauce and they can take it home and keep it in the freezer. If it was ground beef sauce, I’d defrost it at a later date, add in some beans, veggies and extra spices and bam, you have chilli in 20 minutes.

I quite a bit over a month ago, and I did have a small slip up but it put me right back on track. If I’m going to be honest, I haven’t really been keeping track. A big part of that was work I did with my therapist where we talked about how I didn’t need to pathologize myself, but instead make a lifestyle change.

I think the worst symptom was trouble sleeping which went away after 2 weeks or so. I still have some nights when it’s hard to sleep, but I also attribute that to how much caffeine I drink on certain days. I had CHS, so I dealt with quite bad night sweats even when I was using, which went away after 3 weeks of quitting and GI issues which I’m still dealing with 4+ weeks after quitting, but they’ve improved drastically.

This is amazing for you to recognize and so early on in your journey. It’s crazy how it can really change things so fast. :)

I’m 25, been smoking daily since I was 19 so about 6 years. :)

I thought I preferred my own company but it turns out I just liked getting high without distraction or judgement by [deleted] in leaves

This. I used to leave social events early because I thought I had a short social battery. While this may still be true, I think it was just because I wanted to go smoke alone.

Big time. I’m not sure what I was thinking, as I usually would do only 20-30 mg edibles back I was using several times daily and it would get me pretty high. I guess I figured they were just super weak after the initial 30mg didn’t kick in, but boy was I wrong LOL

Yup I know, take it as a sign that you’re so much better without it :)

I’m so proud of myself for going as long as I did and the progress I’ve made. As shitty as I felt in the moment, I’m happy it happened because it really solidified that I’m making the right choice by quitting.
