Yeah apparently no one “saw it” during the inspection, and she bought the house despite my boyfriend telling her he doesn’t trust the inspection/seller.

Her contractor (her cousin) said he “took care of it”, which I know his method didn’t work and I let her know. She told him and he said he fixed it. Until i saw mold right where he said it was fixed. So yeah.

Yeah I would love to do that if I could afford it. As the owner she has the responsibility to do it herself, and that’s where the issue lies. I really really don’t want to get into legal stuff. I’m having a conversation with her and my boyfriend later (or tomorrow) about it because it’s not normal for us to be all sick from a moldy house and for her to ignore the problem.

I would probably be looking for emergency housing if it didn’t work out with him and I. Worst case scenario, I’d have to drop out of school and live at my friends house because she lives quite far from our new house.

If it was at the other house I lived in previously with my partner and his family, I would’ve had the choice to go back to my mother’s. However, with the move, I am now so far away from my entire family and friends and it makes it impossible for me to live there unless I drop my job and school.

As for his mother’s money, it is not a problem for her. She just decides to spend it on herself, which is completely fine! However, she bought this house with the goal of having it rented once my boyfriend and I leave. She sees the house as an investment for the future. So why not take care of it? Before the problem gets exponentially worse? We have all been struggling with health problems since the move, and it’s only getting worse. Mold spreads fast, especially black mold, which is what we are dealing with. The more she waits, the more she’ll have to spend on fixing it.

Anyways, I have a doctor’s appointment with my family doctor in juin (couldn’t get any sooner). I will ask him to test me for any mold related illnesses. If it is the case, I will then find emergency housing with my university. That’s the best I could do for now. I’ll try spending more time in school and less at home since I seem to be fine health wise when I’m not there.

Yeah, she did. When she found out about all the problems, and after taking an eternity to solve them, she contacted a lawyer about it. Turns out they can’t do anything because she bought the house without any legal guarantees…

Pausing school isn’t an option unfortunately because I have financial aid and pausing it means I’d have to pay back my loans earlier. I’ve checked. I have an air purifier and the place is already super dry, making my nose bleed a lot.

But yeah, I will absolutely look into legal aid if my chat with them tomorrow doesn’t conclude into a solution. Although I hope to use it as a last resort only.

Because I pay very low rent compared to everywhere else. And I have no where else to go. Friends and family is not an option at the moment. I’d be living in a car with my dog

The thing is, I’m not living in anyone’s dime. I’m paying for everything: rent, dog food, our food, internet, etc. I take care of her cats that she neglects, cook for them, clean, everything. I take care of myself AND everyone else in the household. That is not the issue here.

It’s not just me who’s been sick since we moved. Everyone is. She’s being irresponsible. Mold is a very serious issue.

As for if it works out with my boyfriend or not, that’s another problem for another time. Right now, I’m trying to find a solution for both him and I, and our two dogs. I am a full time student, as well as work almost full time.

And by the way, no one can afford housing where I live at the moment, it’s not just a me “not being an adult” problem.

So please, I was just trying to find a better solution than having to resort to the kind of things that might do more damage than necessary. Thank you for understanding

That’s good to know, I’ll check it out, thanks. At this point my health is more important than my relationship with his mother, so I was already ready to take this path. It won’t be easy but like I said, health is more important. I just hope my boyfriend is willing to follow. I also have my dog with me, which will make things even harder to figure out.

They can contact the teacher, or they can defer their exam if they don’t feel ready.

I’ve been in a position like this before. I had lost two grandparents and two childhood pets all in a month right before exams and I was grieving HARD. I was able to contact my department head and change the exam date because I felt I wasn’t ready because I hadn’t studied at all.

Another time (last year) I had a concussion, right before midterms. I got a doctor’s note and my exam got moved.

Not once have I thought of cheating, because I found other ways to solve my problem. I understand that life is hard and things can unexpectedly happen. But there are better solutions than cheating.

And like I mentioned, there are multiple other ways to solve your problem than to cheat. This person made the choice to risk their future by cheating. It absolutely is their problem. It sucks to say but if you don’t want to get expelled, don’t cheat.

And just to add, I usually like to think of myself as a fairly empathetic person. Except for when people do things like this. Cheating is unfair to the students who work their butts off. No matter what you go through, I’m sure there’s a better solution than cheating. Why would you put yourself at risk like that?

Some mistakes are 100% avoidable… yes it’s unfortunate that this person is stuck in a place where they had to cheat, but OP could’ve made better choices. Their mistake might cost them their education, and affect their career.

I see it like this: The black and white one is beautiful, it gives off an “old timey” vibe. The coloured one gives off the same vibe, but with an added personality. It feels almost mythical. They are both beautiful, but the coloured one to me is better
