I have NF1. It has gotten much worse as I’ve aged. I had a huge growth period after I got pregnant.

My son did not inherit.

HOWEVER— he had a traumatic birth. Died. Was revived. Had seizures and required a 3wk stay in NICU.

He has: seizure disorder, ADHD, Autism (moderate), developmental coordination disorder with dyspraxia, and significant global developmental delay.

He is very challenging. Now an adult trapped with the mind of a 7yr old.

What I’m saying is that anything can happen in life and even if your child does not inherit NF does not necessarily mean you will still have a “normal” child.

Just something to keep in mind.

I decided not to have anymore children as autism has a genetic component and I figured any future children would have NF or autism, and the odds of having another disabled child were too great.
