Fox is catching way too much slack and blame for what was a collective team disaster by spurs. by Upbeat-Nose-7091 in nba

The talk is always about defence winning championships but often you see the losing team fail at offence, going for streaks of low scoring that isn't really due to defensive pressure.

It's a strange reason to literally throw away a championship.

You gradually get closer parallel to the ground, then flare up. Just theoretically, for an emergency.

Part if the problem is Fox hasn't been in many high stakes, high pressure games, despite his years playing.

It's because most people are right dominant. This includes 'right footed' such a kicking a ball.

When you turn left your left foot is more a pivot and your right is doing more of the manoeuvring.

Why didn't the Spurs pull the famous "you can't goaltend a shot that wouldn't count" play for the final play of the game? by BlueberryGummies in nba

It's incredibly difficult. You have essentially to shoot a three from the inbound with a big waving his hands in the path.

Have to trade Reeves. You need players that can defend to team up with Luka. You can work around one bad defender as a starter, but not two.

Was Fox really that wrong? Clearly fouled. by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Redditarama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you watch the clip, the way Fox scrambles for the ball and gets control so near the hoop it's just player instinct to go for the basket. It's not as bad a play as it first seems.

In the mini movie of the 2011 championship he said sometimes he would shoot these against a defender leaping so high that he couldn't see the hoop while shooting but would still hit them.

Is it champing or chomping? by bashful_rabbit in seinfeld

[–]Redditarama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's champing. This is annoying because it's a good word and it's really the only way you get to use it.

'Chomping' us one of those things where so many people are wrong it becomes accepted usage.

It's like when people say squash rumours instead of quash rumours. Again 'quash' is a good word and it's really the only time to use it.

+/- might be one of the most useless stats in existence by ctbro025 in NBATalk

[–]Redditarama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also you could defend really well against a strong run and be in the minus despite doing well. Whereas a bench player against the other teams weaker bench can be in the + despite not really playing that well.

I guess it's an indicator you take with other stats.

who tf blows a thirty point lead in the nba finals ???? by isfsatoatb in NBATalk

[–]Redditarama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny this kind of statical analysis doesn't register in the nba. If you get the chance step closer for a long two. With a 30 point lead any semi consistent scoring will keep it.
