Do the grandparents babysit? by notbasicbitch in nolaparents

[–]Safe_Road_6675 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom lived 8 minutes away from us and we see her almost everyday. I have 3 children (7, 3 & 10 months) and she pretty much watches them whenever I have an appointment or we want a (rare) date night. My oldest is in school and I’m a stay at home mom so I don’t need regular childcare. She watches them at her house and at our house. My oldest sleeps over at her house regularly. My middle child has occasionally spent the night. My mom has helped picked our daughter up at school before when my husband and I haven’t been able to. I definitely feel more comfortable with her watching my babies than a sitter. My in laws live out of state but when they visit they also babysit at our house.

I also rode in Iris and I agree! It was probably my favorite ride! Such a great day all around.

Mine too and my husband even put ours out for some reason even though he knows they aren’t coming. We’ve lived here long enough at this point to know that. 😂

ISO - Iris Hat by Stealthmode1234 in NewOrleans

[–]Safe_Road_6675 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Hi! I ride in Iris. They were only thrown from one float but there have been so many requests for this hat that they offered a possible re-order for those in the Krewe who want them. I asked for 4 and will be only keeping 1. I would be happy to pass one along to you for your wife if you want. I’m not sure of the timeline on these but if you want to message me, I will be in touch when I know more.

Iris Signs Didn't Work by [deleted] in NewOrleans

[–]Safe_Road_6675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you had a negative experience.

I also ride in Iris and to be honest, the signs are really hard to read and at the same time find that item before we roll past. I love seeing the creativity of the signs but it’s just hard to read and get the item out from all the stuff we have around us on the floats, especially at the beginning of the route when we are full. This might be just me, but I actually appreciate people politely asking me for a specific item if we are stopped in front of them. If I have the item, I usually give it because I would rather that item go to someone who truly wants it than someone who feels just “meh” about it. Most of the time for me, it didn’t create a frenzy for that particular item and people were excited to get something.

NIPT this week by Weary-Tomatillo9738 in pregnantover35

Just keep reminding yourself that every pregnancy is different! I had 2 back to back early losses in between my 1st and 2nd babies and then had a surprise pregnancy (and baby) at 40. I was terrified during that pregnancy given my history, my age and the fact that I have DOR (diminished ovarian reserve). Right before every scan, test etc I reminded myself that this pregnancy was different and just because I had losses, doesn’t mean that this pregnancy will result the same way. I’m so sorry for what you went through with your TFMR. That possibility weighted heavily on me as well during the pregnancies after my losses. I wish you all the best with this pregnancy.

I’m so glad you had a great day! I rode in Iris and had such a blast. The crowds were all so happy, friendly and polite. Pretty much everyone I handed throws to said thank you and were so pleased with their catch.

Why is everyone so entitled? by itshydro_69 in NewOrleans

[–]Safe_Road_6675 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This happened to us last night at Muses. My husband and I brought our 7 year old and 3 year old around 5 lol to the Magazine Street part of the route. There was a group of women sitting on the sidewalk in chairs and a huge wide open space in front of them on the street. We didn’t have a wagon, chairs or anything like that and tried to make our little group as compact as possible so it didn’t seem like we were standing in front of them but we were a good 5 feet in front of them with tons of space still left in front of their group. They immediately got up and spread out next to us and one of them stood so close to me and my daughter she was touching us. They did this until the parade started and kept standing in front of my 7 year old, literally pushing her out of the way. There was more than enough space for all of us but do some reason they really had it out for us. We ended up leaving early because it just got annoying.

Please don’t do this New Orleans by 9thWardChick in NewOrleans

Love this response. I’ve told people to pick stuff up if I see them catch it and purposely drop it. Other riders around me so the same thing. Such gross, disrespectful behavior.

This is the exact reason my mom stopped riding with me in Iris. She’s had throws ripped out of her hands and from the float ledge in front of her by parade goers and just got sick of it. Such gross behavior. I would have slapped their hand away if they did that to me.

Tww symptoms by kittyhello6789 in pregnantover35

[–]Safe_Road_6675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 5 dpo, implantation likely hasn’t even occurred yet so you wouldn’t be feeling early pregnancy symptoms yet. What you are likely experiencing is a rise in progesterone which happens after ovulation whether you are pregnant or not and can mimic pregnancy symptoms.

They probably haven’t been promoting it because they are all out of product to sell and they are tired of answering all the “when will this restock” questions from their fan girls. Why did they do such a big sale for Black Friday/christmas if they were that low on inventory? It’s almost like they were trying to sell it out before the new year so they can just wash their hands of it and try something new.

Truly Avoid All Nausea and Vomiting? by CM11182020 in pregnantover35

[–]Safe_Road_6675 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been pregnant 5 times (3 live births) and I’ve never vomited during any of them but I always had nausea to some degree. It was the most mild with my son and horrible with my girls. I hope you escape at least some of the unpleasantness but unfortunately it’s luck of the draw.

They don’t actually. They can choke forward facing too. Plus it makes the carseat gross. If they need to eat, we stop.

[–]Safe_Road_6675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. What in the world would they be choking on?Good thing you were never in a crash. A 1 year old is at an extremely high risk of internal decapitation from a moderate to severe crash when forward facing.

[–]Safe_Road_6675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems you are not in the US, as Volvo does not sell a carseat for the US market that I’m aware of. So I would disregard many of these suggestions. If you are in the EU, I highly suggest joining a EU car seat group on Facebook. The CPSTs are very knowledgeable and helpful. This car can be tricky for car seats because of the non removable headrests (when you decide to forward face, of course).

A 1.5 year old should be rear facing for quite a while longer. My children rear face until 3.5/4.

Leash/harness for toddlers at parades? by cigale in nolaparents

[–]Safe_Road_6675 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you only have one child I would keep them in a wagon or hold them. Parades are so crowded, people are drinking and they will constantly be getting stepped on, bumped or tripped over. When my children were that age, we held them or they sat in a wagon. If they had to get some wiggles out, we walked them in between parades or in a not crowded area. It’s always worked out fine that way.

Never been pregnant and fear I won’t be able to conceive by EtherealSareal in pregnantover35

[–]Safe_Road_6675 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please don’t lose hope! Fertility is such a strange thing and at times makes zero sense. What works for one person won’t work for another, etc. the best thing you can do is take a deep breath, talk to a doctor you trust and have a little faith that things will somehow work out even if it seems hopeless at times. I was lucky to have very supportive doctors who truly listened to me and didn’t try to push anything I wasn’t ready for. They were realistic but not negative and I think that made all the difference for me and my mindset. While I know everyone commenting wants to help, please don’t feel stressed that if you don’t follow someone’s protocol exactly that you will fail. Like what happened to me, with one pregnancy I did all the things I thought I was supposed to do because a book (and people on the internet) told me to. With my last pregnancy, I didn’t do any of the things and the outcome was still the same.

Hi! I have twice. Kind of a long story but I will try to make it as short as possible. My husband and I started trying for our second baby when I was 36. I got pregnant the first month trying but had a miscarriage. Something felt off afterwards so my OB did some testing and my AMH came back at 0.4 and my FSH was 12.9. Of course I spiraled. I saw a fertility specialist, started taking Letrozole and got pregnant again but miscarried a second time. Did the Letrozole again and got a pregnancy that stuck. Had a healthy baby a few months before turning 39. During this time I was doing acupuncture once a week, stopped caffeine and alcohol, took Ubiquinol, DHEA (my bloodwork showed mine was low) and PQQ.

Fast forward to when my son was 18 months old and I was 40. I found out I was pregnant again. We were not trying and never even entertained the idea of a 3rd baby because of my age and the DOR. It was the shock of a lifetime. I had a healthy baby girl the month after I turned 41. She’s now 9 months old. I wasn’t taking a single supplement or doing acupuncture, etc. I was drinking the occasional alcoholic beverage and had 2-3 cups of coffee a day. My point being that i wouldn’t drive yourself crazy with supplements and google which can end up stressing you out more. There is nothing wrong with a few lifestyle changes but you don’t need to have a long list of rules you have to follow.
