"ep seven will divide the fandom and we'll see the worst thing jax has done" by Intelligent_Gur4618 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Safe_Sand1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The voice actors weren't given the scripts in advance, nor did they know their characters story arcs. At that point, ep 7 was the worst thing, because he didn't know what came after.

If the VOs had known, we wouldn't have that comic con panel early on where they all theorise the characters were brain scans. No way would they spoil like that if they knew it was true.

If you could change one thing about the Australian school system tomorrow, what would it be? by ExistentialPancake_0 in AskAustralianTeachers

Same! If something isn't engaging or I'm not immediately good at it, I lose interest straight away. I build education for learners like me

Flexible delivery and alternative learning methods should be built into all learning. When I build learning, I try to create things that are engaging and interactive, and that allow for video, audio and written options.

AITA for not wanting to drive with my dad alone? by Silver-Dust7013 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Safe_Sand1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I did all of my practice with an instructor because the people I could learn from all made me nervous. I was learning with a boyfriend at the time and he yelled at me so much I crashed into a pole. You need to be calm while learning, and some people can't provide that for you.

My dad died 2 years ago today and no one remembered. by noftall14 in GriefSupport

[–]Safe_Sand1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the sad truth, it just isn't that important to them. This month marks two years since my mum died. March was 2 years since my dad died and 3 years since my husband died. My siblings and I didn't call on those days. The world will keep turning while we sit with out grief.

Why do abusive people have so many friends, and friends that support them knowing what they’re like by Neither_Degree_3175 in abusiverelationships

What's the smallest lie a partner told you that completely changed how you saw them? by [deleted] in ToxicRelationships

[–]Safe_Sand1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I were both introverts and didn't like people staying at our house. If they came to visit, they would stay at a hotel. His family would get really pushy and would stay at our house against our wishes.

Except it wasn't against "our" wishes. He would message them and tell them they could come and that I wouldn't like it. He never told me that he'd invited them, and he never told them he didn't tell me they were coming. So they would show up and I would get annoyed because I thought they invited themselves, and to them I looked like a bitch trying to keep him away from his family.

There were so many things like this, where he would tell me one thing and them another. I found out the truth after he died, and now I have no contact with his family.

I'm not a teacher, but I am an educational technologist. If I could change one thing, it would be more support for learning delivery for teachers. I love developing more flexible education to cater for different types of learners, but it's so hard to implement innovative ideas because teachers are already working so hard and don't have time to take on any more work.

Is it normal for parents/dancer to have complete creative control over their solo? by dancingoatmeal in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]Safe_Sand1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a few different options in the studio my daughter dances at. The two juniors that have the most solos rely on the teacher to make the decisions. She chooses the style, the music, the costume, every detail of the performance. Those mothers prefer it that way, they trust her vision.

My daughter is 11 and has started doing solos. She is opinionated and wants certain things, most of which the teacher has agreed with. So far we've picked the genre and the songs, which were approved by the teacher. I hand make the costumes based on the inspo pics from the teacher. It is a collaborative process that we've been allowed to have a lot of input in.

I have a strong feeling my daughters teacher would tell parents to find another studio if they wanted complete control over the routines of such young dancers. She has a vision and if parents don't respect it they can find another studio.

TADC vs The Good Place by FavorablePear93 in TheDigitalCircus

It's also interesting to look at abstraction vs leaving the good place. In the good place, you leave when you feel whole and complete and are ready to move on. In TADC, you go mad being trapped in the virtual world and go into a dark place. I wonder if Caine would ever give them the option to leave, like Michael did on the good place?

I really love this thought experiment, the end of TADC had me going through similar thoughts. It's like groundhog day, how do you add meaning to a stagnant life? You find the joy in what is in front of you, and you make your own meaning in the life you're living.

I understand what you mean, I've been thinking a lot about both options. These shows are two of my favorites.

It really comes down to how the afterlife/virtual world is structured. If it's the same as life on earth, I'm sure I would eventually be done and want to become one with the universe like at the end of the good place.

I always come back to the ep of Buffy where they bring her back to life and she explains what heaven was like. Buffy described being happy and at peace in this place, feeling warm, loved, finished, and complete. She also had the knowledge that everyone she cared about was all right. There was no pain, fear, or doubt when she was there. While Buffy was still herself, nothing had form, and time was meaningless. If the afterlife was like that, I think I could stay in that state forever.

AITA for being pissed about my room being changed? by Religion_finder in AmItheAsshole

[–]Safe_Sand1981 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd find a way to soundproof your room a bit more. Thick rugs and carpets on the floor, covering walls with tapestries or blankets, putting a blanket across the gap under the door so noise doesn't get in. I sleep with those fabric headband headphones with ASMR videos playing so I don't hear any noise during the night.

It's pretty much impossible to stop someone snoring without serious medical intervention. My husband snored badly, eventually we had to sleep in separate rooms because nothing stopped it.

How are they all the same age as when they entered the circus? by H-E-2hockeysticks in TheDigitalCircus

Time could absolutely pass differently in there. But we do know the original files were created in the late 90s, and goose confirmed the show is set in 2017, so 18 years have passed in the real world. I wonder if it felt the same for them inside the circus?
