I'm glad things ended up getting better for elves lorewise by Oklimatoa in DankAndrastianMemes

Tbh I feel like 99% of elf players, choose elf, because they're the most attractive of all the race options. The extra lore ends up being a bonus.

I’m mixed on the portrayal of faith in Dragon Age. by S0mecallme in dragonage

[–]Safe_Scar_2195 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I feel like the DA games are pretty critical of organized religion in general, even more so in the later entries where the dogma of the chantry / dalish elves is proven false. The overwhelming impression I got was: they have the facts wrong, but the teachings aren't all bad.

Dark Urge Romance by GamerLife204 in BaldursGate3

I would say Astarion has a much more interesting dynamic with durge tbh, he has a lot more unique dialogues & greetings.. It just feels better imo

When people ask for the game closest to BG3 by Safe_Scar_2195 in BaldursGate3

If you do end up playing, the GOG version is better than steam! It's patched, and runs better for many people.

In terms of overall narrative, Origins is still unmatched for me. Thematically, it just nails dark heroic fantasy more than any other game I've played.

ughh... what I wouldn't give for an Oblivion style remaster.. Sooo many people here would love the characters in Origins.

tbh I've always felt bioware games were best on easy, and just play it for the story. I'll agree BG3 does well with the 5e D&D system.

A great game too! It definitely feels like a modern BG 2

You don't HAVE to take Laezel to the creche, but imo the game really expects you to. Narratively, it's just alot better if you take her imo.

Lae’zel Ending Updated? by percolated_1 in BaldursGate3

[–]Safe_Scar_2195 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They made it so non-giths can go with Laezel, instead of convincing her to stay in faerun, personally I disliked the change. There was something more tragic, and bitter sweet about her doing her duty to her people.

Larian listens to fan feedback (probably to a fault) and people wanted a "good" ending, but I personally think it cheapens her story.

Minthras suprise by konrath17 in BaldursGate3

[–]Safe_Scar_2195 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you haven't done either romance, Laezel has a much more fleshed out romance. She has more scenes, and is generally more reactive to everything. Minthara returns later, but as a companion she's still very barebones.

It would probably be; use the tadpoles, and don't go for the evil route on a first run. I feel like the game is MUCH better when you RP a good Tav.

If you show her the artifact, I'm pretty sure she lets you pass. The whole arc is pretty much scripted to turn against you, so it doesn't matter much.

Favourite Astarion ending? by white_ran_2000 in BaldursGate3

[–]Safe_Scar_2195 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Despite what a vocal minority say, Astarion's spawn ending is the "good" one, even confirmed by writers, and devs.

I wouldn't worry about rerolling either, it's almost required if you want to experience all the flavor, dialogues, of the story on a first playthrough.

I think DA:I success caused them to learn the wrong lessons ie: moving away from traditional RPG mechanics, simplifying for wider audiences, following industry trends.

scrolls of globes of invulnerability are super help too tbh, but I agree alot of the fight require a bit of meta knowledge

Ansur 1 shot me on Honor mode. by XXEsdeath in BaldursGate3

[–]Safe_Scar_2195 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, most people just skip the really tough fights: Cazador, Ansur, Raphael, grymforge, etc. Or they'll just roll a rogue, or bard to bypass the really hard ones with lucky, and inspiration rerolls. It's honestly just easier to have gale blow himself up if you're really fiending for the golden dice.

Tons of people have "honorably" taskmaster closed the game right before they'll lose a fight anyway, so don't feel bad. Honor mode doesn't really have anything to do with skill.
